"Greek Cypriots are more similar to Turkish Cypriots than Greeks from Athens." I wrote in my first post and i stick to it. I was just saying that we do have some in common with greece and turkey. But i hate seeing greece and turkey flags, i went to get my premission to leave cyprus in larnaka and i asked my father why there was a greece flag there, he did not know the answer but we didnt like the fact that it was there.

In the euro cup i was backing portugal in the final, not greece. I am not greek i was shouting to my family members who thought otherwise. i just am not used to phases like "island that has been enslaved used and abused for over 5000 years...... an island with no history except occupation" i hadnt been on this forum for long enough to read some of your other great posts and i just assumed you were someone who didnt know what he was on about saying some mean things, I got the wrong impression and for that i appologise. For example I first took your comment on gigo to be an insult but then I read it again and it had meaning and you are correct.

so in summary i agree with you on all but cyprus has a great history, we have been screwed over by every great empire. I am formost cypriot, it is where my parents are from; then brittish, as i live in england; but i use greek to show whether i speak greek or turkish and wether i am orthodox or Muslim, nothing more. i never suggested being a greek from greece, i was pointing out a culteral similarity, i would never want cyprus to become part of greece, cyprus and cypriots deserve to live together in a cyprus that is run by cypriots as it was during the kingdom of Cyprus in 1192 – 1489.

P.S.

Thank you for being good and not letting loose with your tongue then i would defiantly know what insulting is!!

It's amazing how Cyptiots, wherever they may be from can argue over the most trivial things.....

pfft...solve the Cyprus problem, give them another 100 years, while they talk about over a coffee!

a nation where a huge majority of the population and it's descendants in now far-away lands, suffer from over-importance syndrome

wake up fellow cypriots, get over your petty differences, give up all this crap, on where you came from 1000 years and try and make the future a better place. The past is there to be read a book, nothing more nothing less...

Dear Friend,

Unfortunately history is history and facts are facts.

THERE IS NOT A CYPRUS NATIONALITY- THERE IS A GREEK , THERE IS A TURKISH NATIONALITY BUT NOT A CYPRUS NATIONALITY. THERE IS JUST A CYPRUS CITIZENSHIP.

If you support a different base of facts you are historical wrong.

There are not Greek speaking Cypriots and Turkish speaking Cypriots. There are Greeks and Turks.

Who are th Greeks Cyprus?

2000 years BC or what You have in Moulslim religion Greeks from "Mykines" Greece for trade reasons approached the island. They brought their culture, language and they overcomed and overcovered any other calture in the Ilsand.

Who are the Turkish Cypriots?

Ottoman Empire, when invated and occupied Cyprus on 1578AC brought shelters from Turkey, as Turkey did also in 1974, the remains of hese shelters plus some Greeks who became Mouslims in the necessity of survive in an Ottoman Empire state created the minority of Turkish Cypriots.

Above my friend are facts, not result of propaganda or my opinion, just a Historical fact.

Now , Turks are saying that they were under pressure of GREEK CYPRIOTS and , by help of Mainland Turkey they want itnepenent state in Cyprus.

Please be fair and understand why Greeks, and not Greek speaking Cypriots, must give equal or similar rights to a minorty of shelters.

Maybe because of military power of mainland Turkey?

May this is he reason for some decades soft reaction of the Greeks of the Island but history is not created by some decates but by thousands of years and therefore Turkey has secured nothing in the Island.

One "Turkish Cypriot" newspaper asked some years ago how it happens Greece to have rights in Cyprus at the time, as country never invated the Island o occupied the Island.

The Ansewr my friend is that Cyprus original citizens were always Greeks, no need fo invation and shelters. We just born Greeks- You happen to come as visitors after invations.

My Brgds
