Hello Jo,

Thank you for the update, Angela has been in to the travel agent today, who did not know there were likely to be any problems and but is looking in to it for her. They are contacting the rep there who will be told to go to the hotel and write a report. This she said will take three days. She has also made it clear that we have no intention of accepting a transfer to the Atlantica Bay ot the Maramare.

If they can not confirm that the hotel will be ready Angela has been told that we will be able to choose an alternative rather than be told where we will be staying even if the means changing tour operator. This may be OK but I am concerned that we booked back in Novemebr and now the best hotels will be fully booked.

One last point we are asking for confirmation on is that the hotel will not only be open but the refurbishment will be completed. We are not prepared to accept staying at the hotel if they are still carrrying out work, after all it is one thing to say the hotel will be open but another to say it is finished.

We will let you know how we get on.

Richard

i am a little confused as I booked with First Choice, and they have stated that the hotel deff will not be ready on 3rd June that is when we fly out with 55 guests. I called the Oasis yesterday myself and at first the receptionist said all was fine, when I told her it was not she put me onto the manager who confirmed that it will not be ready.. and that all guests were being transferred to either of their hotels.
I also rcvd an email from our wedding co-ordinators today confirming that the hotel looked like a building site, and that even if they say it will be ready it would be better to re-locate so we enjoy our holiday like we deserve to.
They have been liasing with First Choice in Cyprus who themselves re-located us, so its all contradicting.
I am not happy that the same company seem to be giving different stories. I will also be onto them tomorrow, to see what they are saying now.
I will update you tomorrow on the latest from this end.

Just in the middle of conversation with firstchoice holiday hypermarket...told him what i know and hes going to look into it again for me..
I told him im in touch with my friend/wedding co-ordinator, who have said this hotel isnt going to be ready for our arrival...so no more excuses and tell the truth...so to speak!
So whilst i writing this he is on the phone to his people in Larnaca...
We may get some results...(highly doubt it tho!)

I will be back in a bit, with more updates

I spoke to the guy from firstchoice Matthew,he was really nice...
He explained i was having my reception there and he said if you need to change then can she change now as it just isnt a holiday it is a wedding aswell as honeymoon..
Angela(who is out there) said they wouldnt be any need to change as she promises it will be ready..
Matthew has wrote all of his conversation down as back up if things do turn out to be wrong!

Have you heard anything else?

Hi Jo,

I am departing on 3rd June, I have had confirmation from First Choice that the hotel is not re-opening until 24.06.07.. I have not yet had this in writing, but I have spoken to the Oasis who has confirmed this.. 4 people from my wedding party who booked individually have rcvd a letter from First Choice clearly stating that the hotel will not re-open until 24th..
I have tried to pm you with my mobile but it won't allow. If you can email me your email address and I will get a copy of the letter and scan it to you, with this and the press release off of Atlantica's webiste stating its not re-opening until the end of June, they will have to sort it. My mother in law to be booked through Cosmos and is due to arrive on 6th, and she was having the same problems as you, but I sent her the letter now they have confirmed and moved them with us but this took a week. Its so wrong that they are stalling on everything, its caused me so much stress at a time when we should be worried about our wedding not the accomodation. Anyway let me know your email and I will send you all my holiday references, Holiday Hypermarket can then look at my notes and he will have to act..

Emma

I have also booked a week's holiday at the Atlantica Oasis and rang First Choice a week ago to ask about the building work. They flatly denied there was any work going on, then admitted there was and that I needed to amend my holiday by either changing hotel or date. As it's too late to change the date I agreed to change the hotel.
They offered me two other hotels which in my opinion weren't acceptable. This led to 8 hours on the phone to be upgraded. At first they wanted me to pay the extra cost but after lengthly discussions we have been upgraded free of charge.
My advice is not to accept anything you're not happy with and be persistant. They say they can't upgrade but I'm proof that they can and will with enough pressure.
Good luck to all of you especially those of you getting married.

Thanks for the luck, I fear after the start we are having we may need it. unfurtunately, having booked over 25 rooms, I don't have the option of being choosy. I needed something close, all inclusive and to keep us all together, so I have accepted the Miramare, after all a holiday is what you make it.. Where are you staying now?? I was given the choice of changing resorts, but all of my wedding venues are in Limassol, so I had to stick to there..
