To my horror I just checked the Tony Angastiniotis answers to Cyprus Forum thread and he says he is working on a book!

So a small handful of Armenian diaspora historians have changed the historical discourse for good. But look at Greek Cypriots, there are no real good English accounts using compelling evidence to debunk the Turkish and Turkish Cypriot defaming of history. Instead Greek Cypriots have men like Angastiniotis, historical ignorants to lend crediblity to the Turkish defamation campaigns regarding the events surrounding the Turkish invasion of Cyprus.

Has Hellenism fallen so badly on Cyprus?

Nikephoros ... that book has finished and he is working on a new project against the Turks. I would like your opinion on that. Why you say he is historical ignorant....do you think that what he said or what he capture in his camera or wrote in his book are lies?

You're too funny Nikephoros! Laughing :lo:

The Turks speak out against Taner Akcam and you cry about how bad Turks are yet you're quick to turn and do tha same to Angastiniotis because (as you so nicely put it) he does not parrot your official state history.. Wink

Are you sure you're not a Turk in Christian disguise? Wink

He is not a historian. What the Greek Cypriots need is a real historian to comb through the published memoirs/books/writings of Denktash, Kucuk, Ecevit, Turkish soldiers accounts of the invasion and then use their own sources to incriminate them and their lies. That is the kind of thing real historians like Dadrian do. All Angastiniotis does is try to balance between two sides for reconciliation and this evident in his thread. That is not what historians do. Only Greek Cypriots really have that loser mentality toward history, no serious historians think like that. The better historians try to find the most compelling sources to uncover the past, not interviewing Turkish Cypriots 30+ years after.

Akcam is a real historian using compelling sources and doing real historical research.

Angastiniotis deals with history for political reasons of balance between the two communities on Cyprus as he demonstrates in his thread. He interviews people and such nonsense and passes it off as history.

There is no comparison.

I never said Nikephore that Tony is historian. He is photo reporter. Just that. But as you said he is trying at least to give a balance. Most of the TC and the GC have a sided mind. Is either TC fault or GC fault…I know what you want and what you are telling me but at least he try to give a balance as you said. What I ask you is not actually that. I ask you if you believe that what he capture with his camera or what he wrote in his book if you had the chance to go through are lies?

By the way I am not his lawyer! Laughing Laughing Laughing
