| Zan, "you talking to me?" thank you I feel very welcome indeed. I thought you were angry with me for having a friendly relationship with a GC. We have had our moments of bitter conflict on other forums but it does not mean we have to hate each other. We had a lot in common. We are both Cypriots first and love Cyprus dearly to start with. So there you go. |

| Piratis I will tell you something. Lets get rid of all History Books as none can agree on anything. Meaning pointless raking up the past and lets sort this mess out now. i.e. the problem in front of us. Do you want to have peace and unite Cyprus and live in harmony with your non Greek neighbors. If not Its partition. If you keep on asking "was it the egg before the chicken or the chicken before the egg" we will get nowhere. Shall we at least agree on that. Then we can get to the next stage. What you say? |

I gave the answer already denizaksulu in my post in the previous page:
| Quote: |
I believe that we should leave the past behind, we should forgive each other, stop all illegalities and move ahead with a united democratic country without racist discriminations and with respect to the human rights of all Cypriots.
|
It is very easy for me to prove who started it and all the other historical facts. It is really not a case of "chicken and egg". However I really have absolutely no problem in leaving the past behind. I have no interest in recycling the past (like some others)
However when some others are trying to selectively use their distorted versions of the past in order to excuse illegalities and crimes they want to commit today, they I have no choice than to remind them about the true history. I hope you have no problem with that. |

| Piratis, I have no problem with that except that we are using the same arguments to attack each other. The question becomes, whose sources are more reliable ? our or yours? The GCs cant even agree with Greece on their contemporary history. So where do we go from here? There are always differing viewpoints, depending on what corner you stand in. For example: When I was very young I regarded the Eoka as patriot trying to get rid of the British. Later on from a different angle I had to call them other names (after they turned against the TC's) as a result of the British divide and rule tactics. I can see that., cant you? You have to be realistic and see no two peoples can see eye to eye all the time. I wish it was that simple. Lets burn all the history books. What you say? |

Personally I almost never use Greek or Greek Cypriot sources. The one I quoted earlier for example was from the USA Library of Congress.
I agree that people can have different opinions and viewpoints. However there are some things that are not subject to an opinion. For example I can not say that in my opinion stealing is OK and therefore that gives me the right to steal. Everybody has the right to an opinion and free speech, but his actions should always be limited by the law and human rights.
About EOKA I agree with you.
About books, I don't agree. Without them there would be no civilization. If there is will, then a common ground can be found. If there is no will then there will always be some excuse to continue the conflict. |

| This is the entertainment section. Information about anything entertainment goes. No need to provoke each other its just a concert. Provocations occurred on both sides of the line here. It is so absurd that I might have to lock an entertainment thread. Take the discussions that have nothing to do with entertainment out of this section plz. Halil thanks for the concert info, the whole excellency and all that could have been left out. Everyone needs to stop turning this into a political discussion. Leave it to you guys to turn everything into an argument...Please act maturely. Andri |
