OPPOSITE OF SOMETHING
One day, people asked the Hodja;
“Where is your nose?” and he showed them the back of his neck.
They said that he was showing the opposite.
The Hodja answered quickly:
“If you don't know the opposite of something you cannot know the thing itself.” |
Turkish logic eh?
Hodja is lucky I wasn't there cos I'd ask him to show me his balls...
 |
You'd find he would have probably pointed to some part of your anatomy! |
All of a sudden Hodja's law of "opposites" goes out the window eh? I guess Hodja had a short-lived career as a philosopher! |

Dear old Nasreddin HODJA is not dead!! Hodja has merely reincarnated as Get Real. Now I realise where GR gets his humour from. Its in his Jeans. Not his pants, silly, his genes.

What you do not realise is Hodja manipulated the facts to always win an argument - not necessarily opposites... Here is the one about running away from rain:
| Quote: |
Nasreddin Hodja despised his noisy neighbour. He was always trying to figure out a way of punish him for all the sleepless nights he was causing the Hodja, by arguing loudly with his wife.
It was pouring down with rain when Hodja was standing at the window of his living room and admiring the nature. All of sudden his eye caught his neighbour getting out of the house and running towards the corner shop. Hodja shouted out of the window:
- Hey! Neighbour, why are you running?
- I need to buy bread and I do not wish to get wet, Hodja!
- Blasphemy! Don't you know the rain is sent to us by God for good reason? You should never be running away from it! Instead, thank the Lord and walk my son.
The poor man paused and then started walking slowly, getting drenched - with the fear of God put into him by Hodja. Meanwhile, Nasreddin Hodja started to giggle and say to himself "serves you right you disrespectful peasant"
A week or so passed by and this time while the neighbour was standing on his balcony watching the rain pour down, he saw the Hodja running up the street towards his house. Remembering he got soaking wet and getting a litle annoyed, this time the neighbour shouted:
- Hey Hodja! Whay are you running in the rain? I thought you said one should not run because it is God's gift to humans and should be respected instead!
Hodja caught out, but always ready with an answer, carried on running and replied:
- What do you know about God you worm? Of course I am running, but not from the rain you fool! I am running because it would be a great sacrilage to tread on God's holy gift to men! |

I will write back sometime today with details of when I will visit. I hope I'm allowed to bring food stuff and other goodies. Will you please let me know, if food is allowed I hope you will list your favorite Turkish food for me to bring. Fatma is an awesome cook and you will lick your fingers
Job application is there whenever you are ready.
Take care mate and see you soon.

It is only a restricted area for the flight training centre Mitch not "Colditz" for God's sake! If you want to carry food for 70 miles and manage to keep it warm then do so - no one will search you, the gate-keeper will wave you in when they see the official invitation papers. But we do have a nice little restaurant that make lovely fillet stakes
I look forward to seeing you after all these years. Although we are supposed to be quite busy during this time of the year , because of bad weather everyone is sitting down scratching their "thighs". So feel free to visit the training centre at your convenience, but email me so that I make sure I take the day off (just in case the weather improves).
I told my friend about the job application - he says he'll finish his training first and decide whether he will continue with IT or train for commercial flying. He'll probably contact you within the next 3 months or so.
Note: This is a wrong thread you posted - so I had to reply in the same one! Just to save confusion on the part of any innocent readers. |

Acceptance, Joy and enthusiasm ...these are the only 3 states of mind that are permissable if one wants to lead a life in pursuit of happiness. That and living in the present is a philosophy that if followed by all participants of this forum miracles could be achieved. I fully agree with the administrators sentiment. I am curious who will attack me first for saying this |

Clearly, for some people, 'Easter' stands for the rebirth of bad feeling and ill manners, could I ask Forum members not to pollute threads with childish insults and schoolboy name calling, it demeans the people who write them and bores the people who have to read them.
Thank you,
Lana |

Hello Admin / Moderators
Can we do something about xxNilxx and his continual posts in Turkish? .... whether they are accompanied by a translation or not ... they do not have to be in Turkish in the first instance! ... they are unnecessary ... and uncomfortable on the sensitive eyes ...
He now has a number of threads in Turkish as well as a great deal of posts not to mention the continual insertion of Turkish sentences here and there and everywhere ......
Someone checking out the forum could easily be put off by that amount of Turkish if they are expecting an English subscribing forum, and oh boy do we need some fresh blood ...
Thanks. |
