OK
From personal experience in the past trying to organise and agree a meetup like this is a tricky task - but it is worth the effort in my view. As they said at the Wilton Park conference
"It suggested that much could be done to increase contact and cooperation between Greek and Turkish Cypriots to improve mutual understanding."
So it is in this spirit that I will try and 'drive' the organising of a 'cyprus-forum' meeting. So here goes.
I suggest the first meeting in the South. I suggest Nicosia - as this is the easiest place to cross to on foot. I will leave the suggestion of a venue for someone who knows the south better than me.
As for a date I suggest a Sunday - as this is most likley not to clash with peoples work (unless they are a priest I guess). I suggest Sunday 20th Feb or Sunday 27th as a date and afternoon as a time , say 3pm.
Summary then
Cyprus Forum meeting
Place (to be confirmed) - Nicosia, South side.
Date - either 20th or 27th Sunday
Time 3pm
Can anyone interested and able to attend such a meeting please express their intertest so we can see if we can make this happen. |

Hi Erol. I also think it's a good idea to meet after so many discussions. But what about people in the UK or the US? |

If anyone is interested and lives in Cyprus could they say so (here or via pm if they prefer) and say which date they prefer. Thanks
As for those who live outside Cyprus - well there is not much to do really except try and get meetings going without them such that if and when they do visit Cyprus there is reasonable chance of there being a 'cyprus forum' mett up whilst they are here.
Or if we have a meeting here at my house I could webcast it and others could watch / participate remotely (though the chance of that actually working is prob quite slim). |

| Maybe this should be done during the summer when some people from abroad will be in Cyprus? As far as I understand less than half of the regular members are in Cyprus right now. |

Maybe
Certainly if no one is interested before then, then no doubt I will try again in the summer as well. Still no reason not to try before then. I can't be the only one who actualy lives in Cyprus - though possibly the only one living in Cyprus who is keen for such a meeting to take place? |

first of all,
yes that is me in the picture
secondly,
I might come to Cyprus in the summer. I want to start looking for potential jobs since the Cypriot economy is better than the greek. I've never been to Lefkosia but I have been to Lefkosa . I usually stay in Larnaca, but I'd gladly like to meet up with you guys so I guess we can arrange something later on. |

Thousands of GCs passed to northed since 23 April 2003 and don't afraid Piratis,TRNC won't be recognized when you pass.
Anyways... It's up to u!
Yes,i can come to meeting. But its better to do it in summer. So my school ends. No term projects, homeworks, tasks to study. So i can be comfortable during meeting. |

Well I guess it's a case of 'try again i the summer then'
I must admit that I am pretty disapointed. All this talk of reunification and building trust and mutual repect etc etc - but no one (who actualy lives in Cyprus) seems to have any interest in actually meeting each other face to face |

Hi Erol,
I share your disappointment. I would have definetely come to your meeting if I was in Cyprus. What's the point of discussing here if we'll never come together and produce something? I think this forum has a good potential for coming up with something useful but I guess there's no interest. |
