First visit to Cyprus

Postby coleyboy » Fri Jul 13, 2007 11:37 am

My wife and I are visiting Paphos for the first time in October, we are staying at the Cyrstallo Apartments and midway through we are doing the 2 day mini cruise to Egypt, although originally this was to be on the salamis glory it has now been changed to the serenade any information on the apartments, the cruise and price comparisons for eating out and drinking in Paphos compared to other Greek islands i.e. Rhodes Crete, etc would be appreciated greatly.

Car hire a must for you to fully appreciate what Cyprus has to offer.A lot of historical sights are free or extremely reasonable.Eating out is marvellous,a huge choice of Greek and other nationalities food emporiums and the prices are very good.A taverna in kathikas, full meal with wine etc around CY£7.50 per head.Posh nosh in Paphos CY£10 per head (incluses wine). If you are self catering,go to local supermarkets and 1ltr beer 64cents.carton of wine 98cents.Fruit,veg,salad stuffs all great tasting and cheap by our standards.Have a great holiday.

We live near Polis/Latchi on the west of the island, 45 mins from Paphos - a MUST visit especially if you want to eat for less. I have to say that I find Paphos expensive compared to here and good quality posh nosh in my view is at least £12-15 per head including wine. You can obviously eat cheaper if you know where to go of course. And all the small fuit and veg markets in Paphos have cheap ingredients for self catering.
In Latchi, you can great fish and the local villages have great meze and other Cypriot speciliaties at a great price.
Check out this website for taverna suggestions:

Have a great holiday
