Lets start with the easy basics...here are a few GOOD well known artists and their hits.

Luthor Vandross - 'Never Too Much'

Marvin Gaye - 'Whats Going On / Whats Happening Brother'

Stevie Wonder - 'Ribbon In The Sky'

Little Richard - 'Tutti Frutti'

The Isley Brothers -'Shout' (No that bitch Lulu didnt do the original - she was the acceptable white face to sing it in the UK, just like Cilla Black was when she covered all of Dionne Warwick's songs)

The Temptations - 'Papa Was A Rolling Stone'

James Brown - 'Good Foot' (my hero!!!!!!!!)

OK these are by no means all the best artists but some of the most well known. i will be coming back to add to the collection....and NO, i havent forgotten about the Reggae artists!!

GET READY TO LEARN CYPRIOT SUCKERS!!!

Yeah Some good music there

have you tried this link

http://trojanrecords.net/index.php?l1=1#

there is a radio station on there (actually its more of a playlist which changes weekly)
I really p*ss em off at work with it (they dont understand)

I was brought up on roots reggae and still have a lot of the Trojan classics stored away

I've also been playing a bit of Hendrix recently (you know how sometimes you forget how good it was)

But my all time best , even above Bob Marley has got to be Toots and the Maytalls

It got that way around the late seventies.

I'm talking about the earlier stuff 68-74 era

The label was actually part of Island records and was developed in the UK to 'showcase' jamaican sounds to a wider audience

The label now seems to be concentrating on more modern bands but is also releasing a lot of the older stuff also

Got to say I like the motown sound also it was that which led me to try and discover more about black music
