By the way, having met with Miltiades...you must be tall right? Or that was an illusion of the camera?

Lena, I am 6 ft. tall (1.80 mtrs) and 150 kilos. Miltiades being a little on the shorter side and much thinner, you can see a big contrast in the picture. I think it's a great picture which truly shows from our facial expressions that we liked each other.

Well Im happy that I have met with both Lena and Kafenes two great Cypriots and both very charming , altough I have to admit that Lena is better looking than Kafenes and myself !!!

LOL Militiades I was going to be worry if you found Kafenes more charming that me ... sorry Kafenes no offense

Thanks for the compliments Miltiade mou. Kafenes yes indeed the picture is more than one thousand words. Shows how much you enjoy your meeting and the joy and kindness is seen in your eyes.

That's because you haven't seen me in my red patent leather mini skirt with the black fishnet stockings and the stiletto heals on a Saturday night. :)

My dear Bir , I intended to go to Istinjo , but time did not allow me this time , although I went with my brother first to Paphos to meet Kafenes then to my village Stroumbi , being September the 10th , to visit our mothers' grave a victim of the Sep.10th 1953 earthquake.
Stopped at the village for coffee and asked a few people if they knew what day it was , sadly , but understandably none did , we paid our respects and headed off to Polis , Latsi , where we had a fantastic time enjoying a wet fish lunch by the marina and watching the boats go by.

I also as you know visited Nicosia where once again Halil met me and took me to the Cancer Centre , following a breif stay there we , that is Halil , Raziye and my self had a fantastic lunch in a very lovely modern restaurant.
I was early getting to the Ledra Pace Croosing and sat at a coffee shop next to it to wait for Halil. The Kafetsi approached me and I asked for BIR CAFE , but not knowing how to say "Sketos " without sugar , I said it in English , Oh the man said Sketo ! An old boy sitting at the next table when my coffee arrived and I reached in my pocket for money , Enpou mena koumbare , he said (Its on me Koumbare !!)
He spoke Greek and originaly came from EVRIXOU .
Shortly afterwards Halil arrived and off we went me thinking what a wonderful race the Cypriot is !!

Thank you for sharing these touching moments with me,dear compatriot.

If we could only open up people's brains and put into them the notion that there is only one way to true justice, harmony, and peace in our homeland...To embrace each other as Cypriots first and Cypriots second and Cypriots third and Cypriots... 8) :)

Light, joy and hapinesss to you and yours always...

What a charming affable good looking guy with piercing blue eyes and such a personality , as well as , as I was to discover yesterday , a huge talent and a great unique voice . He kindly gifted me 4 of his CD recordings and boy can he sing !!! I'm not easily pleased when it comes to music and singing , maybe why I gave it up a few years back. This guy can sing and interpret songs and make them greater than they were.
I listened to him singing on my way to Nicosia and back yesterday and I honestly cant wait to see him perform live , and will most certainly do so on my next visit in October.

Great man in every way , cheers mate , and here he is , see if you can spot him !!

In memory of the great man I bring this 2007 thread back .

Kafenes, I know you can hear me. I am at a loss for words. I will never forget our long chats; especially the one about your 'hazel' eyes. You also had a matching voice. What a pleasure it was listening to you sing.
Kafenes, you will be truly missed by the whole of Cyprus plus.
Good bye my friend. RIP.

I would have liked to be at his funeral, alas I can not leave the UK until the 17th,,

The great man attended my late wife's funeral in Limassol, I always appreciated the effort made to be present at such a personal sad day, I will visit his burial place in a few weeks time.
