Didn't have a camera with me, but I passed the back of the stadium (road from Orphanides to Latsia) this morning. The rubbish everywhere was disgusting.

Feel free to comment on the Cyprus Forum if you wish .

Let us hope and pray that something can and will be done!! Webbo and myself have notified the authorities in the past regarding fly tipping and the hundreds of laboratory slides dumped in the recycle bins, and I have to admit that action was taken, with thanks to the Forum on the latter subject!

I heard a snippet on BFBS radio about your site today. I can only assume they were talking about the rubbish on SBA land. Let us hope action is taken and fast!

Keep up the good work. Come on fellow forum mates, help tidy this country up, it really does need it. Show off the real beauty and not the ugly waste!

i read about this today in anglo cypriot papers ...well done to all of those concern... it disgusts me to how local cypriots treat their own country ...litter and garbage thrown everywhere ...out of moving cars ,down rivens ...its seems at times cypriots are keen to destroy their own country ,chopping down trees

i was just talking to friend in india ...did you people know that around may time ,,,,india planted some 7.5 million trees in 3 weeks ... a government initiive ...asked 10 million people to plant trees ....

why cant we do the same ...cyprus needs the green of mother nature ...then it might just rain ....god willing ..

Thanks for visiting, Oranos.
The main problem with the private reforestation is that after the planting no one takes time to care the young plants until they grow .Consequently most of them die .

One of the worst areas I've seen is the Troodos road from Limassol, there has been an old mattress there for weeks. However, yesterday 2 men with a van were clearing up the rubbish along the road and the mattress had gone.

Niki , Once i have seen just beside the old road of Platres-Troodos ( the earthen road that leads to Caledonia Falls ) about thirty mattresses with an assortment of other garbage .
Anyway i have an update on the well known site. The Limassol municipality has responded by moving in their bulldozers yesterday trying to clean up the Ayios Antonis area. I will check on the progress on Monday.

Webbo planted some small plants and flowers across the road from our house to brighten it up. We tend to it daily by using recycled washing up water. Today we notice that some 'kind idiot' has pulled up one of our Yucca plants and thrown it a few feet away! I ask you why? This is not the first time this has happened but we thought it may have been a dog before as the plant was still quite small, now we are not so sure! Sad

There's no recycling yet in TRNC, but it's been good to see that at least in Alsancac te beledir has been cleaning up the roadsides - thousands of plastic bottles chucked out of cars etc. Jolly well done and keep it up.

In Ayios Antonios and in Lady's Mile the bulldozers have moved in late last week for cleaning-up.
It is too early to know what the final result will be but we will be there to watch.
