Hi Webbo,
What was the media coverage of this event like in Cyprus? I was a pains :? to find much about it (especially in blighty).
:?:
I did find some links regarding some of the players if anyone is interested:

Also, watching Scarlett’s Vs Saracens on BBC TV yesterday one of the Saracens players was an Andy Kyriacou (with previous England U21 honours). Have you heard of him? Not sure for definite if he has Cypriot roots (maybe Christo Kasabi can help find out more?).

Anyway, congrats on the results and speedy recovery wishes to Jonathan Pettemerides.

Hi Progress2007,

Media coverage was very limited. The Cyprus Mail did do match reports and I believe one of the TV stations did show a few highlights but that was about it. The sport is still very much in it's infancy but some very promising youth players are now coming through which is promising for the future. It is very difficult to change the attitude to a country which has large following for the likes of soccer and basketball but time and future advancements in the international field will help.

Cyprus-rugby.com has full match reports and photos from all games to date.

Hope this is of use

Thanks for that Webbo,
Do you know where I can find the results of the local Cypriot RU league? Pafos Tigers usually post their own result on their web site. Unfortunately the Barbarians site has not been updated for a while :? and the Crusaders web address appears to be defunct :!: !!!!!

P2007

P2007,

The Nicosia Barbarians are experiencing problems with the number of players but do have players from the UN becoming available so hopefully their team will be back to normal in the new year. The Limassol site was experiencing problems and a complete new site is under development and will hopefully be again fully operational in the new year also. I will post the address as soon as I know it for certain

Nicosia now has a second team awaiting aproval by KOA (Cyprus sports council) Nicosia Harlequins and i think they should be joining the league next year.

I do know that Onthisisland.com tries to keep info on the Rugby updated but as this site is run by a University student in the UK he relies on info being passed to him from friends and family.

Teams are on a break now whilst local pitches are re seeded and the season restarts mid Jan

Hope this is of use
