The constitution of 1960 could not function properly because Greekcypriot society were seeking ENOSIS CONTRARY TO WHAT HAVE BEEN SIGNED IN THE AGREEMENT OF ESTABLEMENT of the republic of Cyprus. Imagine UNDER such an environment HOW could the Turksihcypriots accept to COOPERATE with these people who rejected what they have signed in 1960 as a separate sovereign NATION ?

ENOSIS idea begun in 1955 by the EOKA the extremist Organisations which demanded an immediated withrawal of the British Forces in Cyprus despite all Information of adverse negative consequenses. Let me remind you that also countries like Hong Kong were also under British Control but they did not acted with stupidity and fanatism like what EOKA Did. Hong kong got his independence in 1996 and now it is considering one of the main financial serrvices provider in the world.

The RC was not dissolved, it's still alive. But it does not function the way it should function and that's a shame.

In a finely balanced agreement like RC, you either have it all so everyone is happy, or you don't have it at all. You can't keep the parts your side likes, and ignore the parts you don't like, and then refer the whole structure with the same name. It doesn't work that way, although it worked for G/Cs in the past 40 years, (and some people on the forum talk about unfairness, sigh)

What I was saying is that RC did not function the way it was supposed to in the past 40 years, almost all of its existance, and we don't know if it will ever function the way proposed in the agreements. For me, it exists in theory, and there's a structure close to it in the south, but not exactly it.

You can call this "RC is dissolved" or you can call it "RC never functioned the way it was supposed to" etc. The end point is the same, no T/C participation in RC, and G/C wrongfully claiming to represent the whole island, and using this to benefit from it, such as getting the structure in the south to EU and all.

And then we have people who prefer division to Annan plan, and this is again due to misnotion that what they have in the south is indeed what they were supposed to have according to 1960 agreements. They're so used to owning t

The republic of Cyprus propose a Turkish-cypriot Vice President and also Turkishcypriots members in the parliament. Obvioulsy the constitution now is quite different to the above that we have None Turksihcypriot vice president and none in the
parliament. So i dont think can represent the Cyprus republic.

We have only one opportunity with the Anan plan to have a UNITED CYPRUS REPUBLIC If both sides make the aggrements and come forward with a forward thinking attitude .

In practise the Cyprus republic has ended in 1963!
