Iyi aksamlar Birkibrisli kardesim, (good evening Birkibrisli brother)
My regards to all other people with whom we met that Friday afternoon as well (he,he,he I like the term TCBs)
Everything was very touching in your diary my brother. What touched me more is your picture sitting in the ruins of an old house. It seems that scene describes the emotions of too many Cypriots today... |
Great to hear from you,Mick...I wasn't sure if you were still reading the Forum. That Friday afternoon, and our chats are firmly engraved on my mind...We just have to keep trying to break down the walls in people's minds,so that the future generations do not have to sit on the ruins of their houses of birth...
By the way,I forgot to ask you at the time. How was the iced tea I made for you at our TCB's flat that afternoon????
Iyi gunler,Gerchek/Hakiki Kibrisli Gardash!!! I am off to do some walking before composing some more narrative in my other thread in the Cyprus Problem section. |
I too still remember most of the our great chats dear M. I think if we had more time we would be chatting for days... he,he,he.
Your iced tea was great, "oturdum bile/i sat already/ekatsa bile-in GC dialect" remember?
Sana da iyi gunler gercek kibrisli kardesim dilerim. /You too have a nice day my TCB
PS. Is it possible to use dogru/dogrulu instead of gercek for TCB?? |
Gercek daha dogrudur.
Selamlar |
Tesekkurler Bir'in yegeni (Thanks Bir's cousin). You know we use the same in GC I mean calling each other "anipshi" even if we re not really cousins. |
That is interesting to note,Mick...I know what you are saying. But Deniz and I are actually related,by marriage. |
How does the link go?
My aunt (my uncles wife)and your eniste (teyze or hala's husband) are brother and sister.
Zan is also my yegen. How about that? |
Jesus Christ!!! (or Muhammed!!!)
You mean Zan and I are related as well??????
This is getting ridiculous!
BTW,Happy Birthday,Deniz yegen...And remember,we are only as old as we feel... Or is it we are only as old as we look...???? |
Hey yegen, who told you that. Or was it a little nightingale?
Well, yegen, Cyprus is a small island. This forum is even smaller. For your information I also met a GC villager (koylu) of mine as well, and we are acquaninted on this forum.
It just shows.
Years ago, whilst a student at the Lefkosa Turk Erkek Lisesi, me and a few other Students used to borrow books from the American Library. I borrowed a whole set of books on the American Civil War. By the time I finished reading them, cover to cover, I was a wreck. To read that brother killed brother, literally, broke my heart. I tried to understand it but did not succeed. Now, sometimes it feels the same. Till the TC haters show their ugly faces. Only then I begin to understand the American Civil War.
Anyway thanks for the Birthday wishes. |

Yegen (with the hook above the g) means cousin.
Yeyen , means nothing. In villages it could perhaps be a corruption of yegen, when they dont pronounce the soft 'g'. Or even a corruption of 'yiyen'.
Yiyen means, him or she who eats. |

No my friend, I only take this forum light heatedly. Any relation of my friend Bir is a friend of mine, I guess that includes Zan as well. |

Deniz, for me, meeting people face to face is very important regardless of there political views. As much as I would call you a friend I would like to meet you in flesh one day to officially seal our friendship. |
