How do your measure a skala in acres or square meters?

i know that an oikobethon is between 520 and 600 square metres if that helps

I thought a skala is 1000 square meters. But now that you asked I am not so sure any more

if a skala was 1000, then isnt that an acre? it`s all a bit confusing, and then they talk about a horafin! how big is that?

An acre is 4046 square meters. I also beleive a skala is an acre.

The acre sounds like a lot of land as a basic unit for a small place like Cyprus. I must look it up somewhere

If a skala is the same as a donum then it is 1338 square meters according to my search.

Yes skala is the same as donum and is 1338m2, acre is a 1000m2 and hectare 10000m2

Actually donum (skala) is not a standardized area measurement. It is of Turkish origin and its size varies from one place to another. In Cyprus it was standardized by the British to be equal to 14,400 sq. feet (1,600 sq. yards) which equates to 1,337.8 sq. meters. Only in Cyprus we use this size of area when we use the term donum. In other parts of the ex. Ottoman Empire, it is either totally unknown nowadays or it is equated with a different area size.

that kinda makes sense to me, cos then just under 2 and half oikobetha would be a skala
