Potsy the official exchange rate is 1 Euro = 0.585274 Cyprus Pounds. I'm not sure what the Sterling rate is today.

Also you will find English is spoken all over the island especially in tourist areas, you should have no trouble with the language, even road signs are in Greek and English and you drive on the left.
