Car insurance

Postby Crivens » Wed Apr 13, 2005 6:56 pm

Arlight. Just got a nice 1800cc MX5. I am going to move to Cyprus in about a years time. My question concerns insurance. I'm just about to get insurance before I pick up the car from the garage, and basically don't know if I should select no-claims protection or not. It's costs an extra £60 for the priviledge, but if I'm going to Cyprus then would it matter? I mean do insurance companies in Cyprus take your no claims from the UK into account? Or do you start from scratch again (do they even have something similar to no-claims?)? I really don't want to get the protection if I'm going to lose all my no-claims anyway in another year.

Also, does anyone know any good car insurance companies in Cyprus, and with any luck one that has an online quote?

Cheers

I've just insured my car with Gan Direct. They didn't ask me how much no claims bonus I had in England but they did ask if it was my first insurance in Cyprus.

It cost me £165 for a years fully comprehensive on a 2000 Mitsubishi Lancer 1.5 MX.

They follow the English Insurance rules. I know that there are cheaper companies out there, but what drew me was that they have achieved the ISO9001 certificate by the British Standards Institute.
