Hi Everyone

Me and my family would love to live in cyprus but with the rising costs and price of property going up we could not afford to live in cyprus from what we earn in the uk together we proberly bring in about £48,000.00 a year we not get that in cyprus as i'm a regional service manager for a flooring company and my wife is a loans adviser. I could not see us having these type of jobs in cyprus.

Lee,

Nepotism is rampant in Cyprus, also If you can't speak the local lingo, no one will hire you for a very good job. Stay where you are.

Electricity is a little higher than the UK but only a little.

Tax is much less, council tax is a tenth of the UK, fuel is a third less, mobile phones are far less...it's not all doom!

The big downside is the wages.

Let's see the big downside in WAGES? Twisted Evil If you only make enough to pay the bills, what's the use?

That was my point....may I call you God?

Mind you there's a lot of Mercs and BMW's driving around although this is probably from selling off inherited land. At some point all the land will be sold and Cyprus will have to live on tourism and business, the wages should begin to match other countries.

I think the cost of living has risen dramatically since Cyprus joined the EU and I see little in return to be honest. Sad

I'm going to start making my own electricity. I'm going to make my wife pedal a stationary bike connected to a generator to furnish the house with electricity. Laughing

My solution will ruin my sex life but I'll save a bundle Very Happy

I don't see the ROI on joining? So they've given a few Euros for roadworks and to build a few marinas. What has the ordinary citizen gained? Wages on par with 3rd world countries.
