If that is how some TCs and Turks think that democracy should be, then why didn't they apply this kind of democracy in Turkey and the "trnc"? Why don't the Kurds in Turkey have "political equality", and why don't the GCs in the "trnc" have it?
The Turks not only do not give to the minorities such disproportionally large powers, but on the contrary they don't even give to them those rights they should have. |

May be for the same reason we refused to accept functional federation prior to 1974 or to implement the provisions of the 1959 Agreements regarding the municipalities prior to 1963.
What do you do when you lose your clout Piratis? Do you think world politics is a game of chess wher you start or abandon the game at will? |

MAVRU SAYS LOKMACI GATE BE OPEN BY THE END OF MARCH
Hours after the two leaders agreed to open the Lokmaci gate, as soon as technically possible, the mayor of South Nicosia Eleni Mavru has said she was hopeful the gate would be opened by the end of the month.
`Technical work will begin on Monday`, she said, adding that she was optimistic that the crossing will open by the 31st of March.Another comment on the issue came from the Mayor of Nicosia Turkish Municipality Cemal Bulutoglulari who said that the Municipality was ready to open the gate once the necessary political decision was taken. |

Does anyone know what this novelty "term" ("functional" federation) -that was once introduced and used by Ecevit and the Turks and now by Bananiot, means? I suspect it means an ethno-communally based "federation," rather that a territorial federation, but lets get some more opinions to this! |

Humanist read the Cyprus 60 constitution what it says in it than you speak . if it says Turkish speaking Cypriot or Greek speaking Cypriot .
Municipalities were separated since British time . Many times it has been posted in this forum . go and search the Cyprus Constitution to refresh your memory . |

like I said mate, nothing of what you say speaks of unification, not with the rest of Cyprus,

| Functional Federation was agreed by the two representative debators prior to 1974 but was rejected by Makarios. You would bend over backwards Kifeas if it was offered to us again. Basically it meant the establishments of small cantons without the need to move people. |

Dos it mean acceptance of the ethnic-cleansing carried out by Turkey? ...... and now allowing them to have a recognised territory that should be "clean" and "free" from contaminating GCs? |

| Humanist, you have spent some time in Cyp recently. Did you hear anyone talk about the Greek speaking community? Really, this is meaningless, why do you go on about it? |
