Bognor Regis
If your parents want English food, then..................why bother on a foreign holiday. Boring. |
Because Phuket, where we live, is too far for them to travel..... |
Fair enough. Are there direct flights from Phuket? Or are they travelling via a slow boat from China. (I do know where Phuket is).
Welcome to the forum y the way. I did not want to seem rude, but English food? Please, you are in Cyprus have some good Cypriot food, its not that bad. Healthiers too.
Regards |
Deniz, I think you got things a little mixed up. I understand his parents live in the UK and they live in Thailand and are meeting in Cyprus for a holiday. BTW the connections from Larnaca to Thailand are very good as Phuket is a very popular holiday destination for Cypriots. |
I gathered that from their second post. My apologies to Mogster. No offence intended. But dont you just love Cypriot food? |
Now don't you get me started about food. |
Now, since you mention food, and not forgetting dear mamma's cooking, can you tell me what is a taxi/minicab fare from Nicosia to Paphos. I might rent, but am at the planning stage.
Also, without pre-booking a hotel, would it be possible to find a bed in a hotel just for one evening in August?
Regards |

The best family hotel that caters for toddlers by far on the island is Almyra in Paphos. Had a great time there with my 3 year old.
Four Seasons in Limassol is not bad either. |

Thanks for the welcome and many replies.
Just to clarify, having lived in Phuket for 15 years and alternating annual family gatherings between Thailand and UK we have decided, for my parents sake, to choose a location about halfway. Cyprus fits this criteria. We like to try all foods but some folk are not as adventurous as others. Apologies accepted from denizaksulu. (all opinions appreciated, though some not regarded)
So far, Paphos seems to be getting the nod, rather than Limassol!
I expected some support for Le Meridien Limassol as that was the place originally recommended by my friend. Is it too far out?
We would prefer 5* but the Kefalos Beach tourist village gets rave reviews on tripadvisor and thats nowhere near a 5*.
InterContinental Aphrodite Hills Resort looks good. Any opinions?
Thanks in anticipation

The intercontinental is a great hotel but certainly no good for what you want. Ir is designed for business people and golfers and miles out from anywhere. |

Deniz, I don't know the exact fare of a mini cab from Nicosia to Paphos but I can tell you it is a torture to travel in one of these as they make a hundred stops to pick up and drop off people. I am most willing to come to Nicosia and pick you up and bring you to Paphos and show you around Paphos as my guest. I am sure you will find some hotel to stay in. In the worst case you stay at my place. |

Thanks for the offer Kafenes. I forgot to mention that another option is car rental. I might have a few real/true Cypriots with me and a bit. (minibus more likely) |
