HI there,
I have decided to book a family holiday in Cyprus for 2 weeks in late September and was hoping I could ask some friendly board members for their advice?
Our party will consist of my wife and our 3 year old son and my folks. We are in our late 30s, my folks are in their late 60s.
I have researched quite a bit on the internet and also asked my friend who grew up in Cyprus where we should stay? The concensus seems to be Limassol or Paphos.
I like the look of both Le Meridien and St. Raphael but wonder if I should be considering other places as well.
Must have:
Kiddies swimming pools and playgrounds. Must be perfect for a 3 year old.
Variety of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel
Local shopping area for wife and grandma.
Somewhere to sit with a beer and watch the world go by for me and grandpa.
A bit of evening entertainment, not too far away. Although we don't want to be in with the "dancing on the tables" crowd.
I am told the beaches in Cyprus are not very picturesque.
I am also told Limassol is a bit depressing.
I am told Le Meridien and St. Raphael are miles from anywhere.
I would quite fancy a day trip to the mountains, a lake or a winery.
Mum and Dad would probably enjoy 'English' food and newspapers, (TV?)
Taking this into account, where would you people, who know Cyprus, suggest?
Also, is Cyprus a member of the Schengen Visa agreement? My wife is not from Europe and would need a visa.
All advice appreciated! Thanks

Hi Mogster
Welcome to the forum. Firstly, Cyprus is not a Schengen member yet. Regarding a resort, as you have a 3 year old, I suggest go for a 4 star rather then a 5 star, you will feel more at ease. I would suggest Alexander The Great Hotel in Paphos. |

Fair enough. Are there direct flights from Phuket? Or are they travelling via a slow boat from China. (I do know where Phuket is).
Welcome to the forum y the way. I did not want to seem rude, but English food? Please, you are in Cyprus have some good Cypriot food, its not that bad. Healthiers too.

| Last summer I took my daughter her husband and their 3 year old girl to the Coral Bay Hotel in Paphos for a long weekend, along with my wife . We had a brilliant time , the little one played in the toddler's pool and joined in the organized games by the Hotels entertainment team. a great place for all . |

Deniz, I think you got things a little mixed up. I understand his parents live in the UK and they live in Thailand and are meeting in Cyprus for a holiday. BTW the connections from Larnaca to Thailand are very good as Phuket is a very popular holiday destination for Cypriots. |
