| Hi there are lots of postings on here about the euro, but.....is it best to take sterling and get it exchanged over there or exchange it here, current rate being about 1.2? |

You usually get a slightly better rate by exchanging your cash in the country you are travelling to rather than in UK. Maybe get a small amount before you arrive, so you can get drinks etc for the 1st day - then use the next day to locate the best exchange rate.
Tip: Make sure they are offering No Commission fees and also that this is not limited to changing a certain amount of foreign currency Calculate roughly how much you can expect to get first, then ask them to confirm the amount you will receive before you make the transaction.... |

As the pound keeps dropping almost daily against the Euro and according to many ad visors will keep dropping it would probably better to change it now ~ it would have been better last week and even better the week before .
How low will the pound drop ~ who knows ~ oh for a crystal ball .
Will the pound improve ~ again who knows ~ where's that crystal ball again
Personally I would change it now just in case the pound falls even further down the drain but don't blame me if the pound makes a miraculas recovery and I'm proved wrong .

Gosh, yes, oh for a a crystal ball!
With GB interest rates set to fall further I suspect that we'll be lucky to get 1.10E to the £ this summer and who knows perhaps parity later this year.
As for changing here in GB or in Cy, in the days of the Cy pound I always found a slightly better rate in Cy.

The pound will continue to tumble , soon it will be one Euro to a Pound.
The Euro has been the most stable and the strongest currency ever in the world of currencies. Will we change to Euros . Of course not , we love our bloody pound so much we think it would cause loss of Sovereignty !!!! Can not believe that the majority of Brits are so against Euro , not for sound fiscal reasons but because our Pound is so British , just as British as our airports , our immigration officers wearing turbans , the security staff with beards
and we are worried about loss of sovereignty. We have no sovereignty left , the politicians made sure of that , Ken Livingstone's bloody heroes are the very people that hate us , and yet the Brits are worried at losing sovereignty !!
Now back to the question of changing Stg to Euros. Avoid British airports , they are all f.ng crooks , the spread is a diabolical 20% , being the difference between buying and selling.
The best place to change your money is in Cyprus. Not far from the Limassol Zoo there is an exchange "shop" that I have been using for years , always the best rate without commission. I can give you further directions should you like. |

I want the Euro, the £ is in decline, sovereignty gone. Ken Livinstone (bloody lunatic) hopefully going soon. However I have no problem with a multi cultural UK, as long as taxes are paid, which in the main they are.
Money exchange in Cyprus, nothing much in it where ever you go. |

| the pound will never equal the euro, no chance. i shop everyweek from sterling to euro.i find my international bank charges me less and gives me the going rate, better than exchanging here in cyprus. check out your banks deal cos all exchanges are ripoffs. note since cyprus got the euro prices have gone sky high. |

| changes where you go, bank-exchange ect. ask your bank what they will offer you using your debit card. we bank with hbos and they offer the going euro rate so its an uptodate rate at all times, but check out their charges this will be based on what account you hold. |
