Does anybody know if there are any humanist / aatheist groups in cyprus? I'm not so much looking for a place to discuss atheism (not much to discuss really) as a place to meet like minded people. I'm feeling quite isolated in that regard out here especially at this time of year.... Sad

There are a few individuals, but I don't think there is a group of people, like a social group or anything like that. I only know one Athiest in Cyprus, most people beleive in some form of God though. I very much doubt you will find a place to discuss such a topic in Cyprus, maybe if you go to the university and colleges and so forth, people who study Theology. Who knows? You might start believing in God.

Pretty much what I thought....I wonder what the backlash would be if I attempted to start such a group. I sure there are more people out there who quietly go about their business without proclaming their lack of faith. (I know now there are at least two of us lol)

You could discuss it at my Virtual Pub (www.virtual-pub.com) if you like, I don't think there is a believer among us...

I am an atheist and live in Limassol. That makes three, at least.

Four. Atheist socialist, and therefore humanist. And I live in the criminally irreligious part of the island.

So you want to meet up with people who don't believe in something but not necessarily to talk about that which they don't believe in! Confused

Perhaps what you're really looking for is the opposite... devil worshipping but can't bring yourself round to say so? Confused

Either way one looks at it you're a weirdo... Laughing

Get Real, maybe so. But you've got to concede that religion is simply the credulous in search of the unbelievable.

Why unbelievable? I'd say the naive in search of answers. It's relative because they are satisfied that they receive "answers".
