| We are coming back to Cyprus soon and I am wondering are there any form of vehicle navigation systems in use in Cyprus, similar to the Tom Tom system used over here in the UK or Ordance Surveys Memory Map and Navteq is another option. We aim to do a lot of driving off the main roads Do the local police use the same sort speed detection equipment as used over here?......Is it worthwile investing in one of these units for a two week stay......ps I am not a speed freak my 30 odd years clean drivers licence shows this. |

| You don't need sat nav over here. As far as I know there are a few maps for the main cities on sat nav. Just ask the people in the coffee shops for directions this is not the UK, people will be glad to help you out. |

Pocket Navigator and Destinator 7 have maps for Cyprus. If you're only coming over for 2 weeks, I wouldn't bother. I only use them for finding addresses in the large towns.
If you have Memory Map, I have a map I can send you which will do you for a couple of weeks. |

| Yes I agree the locals are very helpfull and very friendly too..However when we go off road we may not see tarmac for miles.....We aim to visit not the main tourists sites but those little places only explorers find....Thats what we enjoy. |

| That's why Memory Map is probably the best solution out here. |

I like Memory Map did a bit of Pajero 4X4 in Kielder forest over here and Memory Map allowed me to save the route we travelled see attached image at one point I must have switched the Pda off then later switched it back on hence the very straight line through the trees.....

More or less the same speed detecting devices.
Laser speed guns such as Pro-Laser II & III
Speed kills... and so does the drug |
