The day after

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

The day after

Postby Piratis » Thu Apr 15, 2004 10:44 am

I see some T/C getting upset that we do not accept that the Annan plan is "finely balanced". This not just my opinion, this is the opinion of the majority of Greek Cypriots and it is not going to change.

The only way we could still be discussing the Annan plan is if the Turkish side accepts the proposal of AKEL and the referenda are delayed. Otherwise on April 25th the Annan plan will be part of history.

On May 1st Republic of Cyprus will enter the EU.

Turkey says that will go around the world and demand the recognition of the TRNC. I really wonder how this will help them, since if TRNC is recognized then we will have absolutely no motive to help Turkey continue its European course. Of course it goes without saying that an independent TRNC has no chances of joining the EU either.
All these are just theoretical, if Turkey achieves its ultimate goal, something that I highly doubt.

So what will Turkish Cypriots do the day after the referenda? Would you be willing to start discussions for a solution that will be acceptable by Greek Cypriots, or you would rather join Turkey and demand recognition of TRNC?

There's NO CYPRUS REPUBLIC WITHOUT US

Postby tcypriot » Thu Apr 15, 2004 1:14 pm

First of all; there is,can be or will be no cyprus republic without the involvment and consent of the turkishcypriots.Just as there can be no france without the french,no germany without germans there can be no cyprus republic without Turkishcypriots

Dont tell me that: Well we achieved to fool most of the world for the last 40 years.

We are not foreigners so you cannot fool us.We are politically equal owners of this island and if we say that it's not the Cyprus Republic at south then the discussion is over,it's not.

The joining of the Turkey to the European Union is not more important for the Turkish people than the demands of the Turkishcypriots.So the fact, you blocking turkey's eu way after joining the eu; if TRNC is recognised, is of no importance.

Look greeks; as long as we turkishcypriots want this current situation to continue, it can go forever.This is something that you must realise.Had we not made those huge peace demonstrations like the one yesterday, then there would absolutely be no possibility of a solution-even of a referandum in Cyprus.And also dont tell us that you'll be poorer.Nations can sacrifice many things for their aims.

By the way why does TRNC have no chances of joining the EU if recognised?What is it that you Papadopulos electors have and tcs mass peace demonstration makers dont have?Enlighten us...

Once again i say.Whatever we turkishcypriots want will shape turkish sides policy.Look we wanted solution,here comes referandum. If we "the day after" decide that you are not trustworthy, nothing can be done together with you, then everything is finished; no matter what happens with the turkey eu road.

If the day after comes a positive approach from us and a negative from you, then:

After considering these facts that :

1)Your negativity prevented a solution supported by the rest of the world;
2)We are TURKISHCYPRIOTS and have seperate self determination rights like the Cheks and Slovaks had in Chekoslovakia;
3)We are CYPRIOTS and are equally owners of this geography;

We have all the right to decide that there can be no union with you and it's the very right of ours to demand recognition of TRNC.

Even if it takes decades(or maybe months(days)) who knows;but one day TRNC will be recognised.We'll lose when going through this road but realise, you also will lose,YOU will also lose if we lose.

Wake up greekcypriots.All of you are behaving in such a way nowadays as if we were beggars that you rejected.A great opportunity is about to be lost.A huge mistake will be made by the greekcypriots or the day after we might be simply calling greeks.

This referandum is between a SOLUTION and NO SOLUTION will you still choose no solution.Will you once again lose it all while trying to grab it all?In my opinion "yes".

We the Turkishcypriots are very peaceful people and we are offering a peaceful handshake to you.But dont forget that we Turkishcypriots are at the same time very strong and resistant people.If you reject,we'll say: well it's their own choice and we wont cry because of it.Because you'll lose also about any mistake made on the island.

So what are we going to do; We,Turkishcypriots with our own seperate self determination right, which can also be seen from the nature of the seperate referanda, can decide with our own freewill what are aims for future is.No matter what your EU blocking threats or stricter embargo threats are.

We will freely decide.

True, it's not going to change with all the propaganda happenning on your side. If GCs spent more time to read the plan, then they would know that "Annan plan is a confederation", "Annan plan creates two independent states" and all that imaginary claims are not true. But instead they believe what the politicians say. I'm not the only one saying that Annan plan is finely balanced and fair, the whole Western world agrees with me.
The only way we could still be discussing the Annan plan is if the Turkish side accepts the proposal of AKEL and the referenda are delayed. Otherwise on April 25th the Annan plan will be part of history.

Ok, if you are so sincere about further discussing the Annan plan after May 1st, then why don't we postpone Republic of Cyprus joining EU as well? In this way, we'll not have to worry about new dynamics where Greek side in EU representing the whole island, and we can just focus all our attentio on the Annan plan. Do you accept that? I'm sure not.
Turkey says that will go around the world and demand the recognition of the TRNC. I really wonder how this will help them, since if TRNC is recognized then we will have absolutely no motive to help Turkey continue its European course

After all these years, TCs started a mini revolution in the north for peace and unity, and that brought a finely balanced plan widely accepted by the whole world, and now your side says "No". Why should TCs still be punished for your "No"? And how exactly are you going to ask your European friends not to recognize TRNC and block Turkey's EU course, when you rejected a plan that they supported so much?
So what will Turkish Cypriots do the day after the referenda? Would you be willing to start discussions for a solution that will be acceptable by Greek Cypriots, or you would rather join Turkey and demand recognition of TRNC?

First we will ask the whole world to stop punishing us for your mistakes and I'm sure somebody will listen this time. And we would be willing to continue discussions for an Annan plan type solution. Don't expect us to run from north to RC, like East Germans did from East Germany to West. That's just wishful thinking. You might be opposed to the Annan plan now, but sooner or later, you'll understand that it's the only solution at the moment.

Ok, just wanted to know what you think you will do. Lets see what is going to happen.
All I can say to you is that we will never accept anything like the Annan plan, so don’t count on this. Also, we are part of the EU. EU is us, is not them, so you should make your calculations again.

Anyways, we will talk again when something changes.

Yes, as if you're going the change the opinion of France, Germany, England since you're in the EU. Even if you are part of the EU, the fact is you're funadementally against a plan that is widely accepted in the EU, so Greek side joining to EU is not going to change this fact. That's why it's unfair for you to represent the whole Cyprus in the first place, but let's not get into another discussion again. As you said, we shall see.

Non of those countries said is going to recognize you. Also, we have a veto power in critical issues like admission of other countries in the union.

Now you remembered what is fair? There are many things unfair my friend.
But even if you do not accept to give to us what belongs to us, I am sure you can have the 18% of the 6 members that Cyprus will have in the EU parliament. (of course in the way you realize fairness, maybe you think you should get the 50%?)
