Just out of interest, do they still have that pelican in Paphos? I think his name was George and he used to wander about and get food from anyone passing by.

I'm almost sure I didn't imagine him, but if I did then i'm claiming all legal and intellectual rights to the name and concept Laughing

Richar I used to be a kid visiting Paphos 30 years ago. It was as you described it. Always dreamt of retiring in the area. However on my visit in October 2007, I decided the Instinjo would be the only place in Paphos I could live at now Smile .......... I happened to be in Paphos on a Friday night. It felt awful, all the young Brits drinking with the aim of just getting drunk and all the young Cypriot males chasing the drunken British women, because they want to keep the Cypriot women as pure as they can for their wives to be.

I was there last march (with wife ) and in Nov 2007 with son and I must say that even as a Brit I would agree with your comments its no fun being in Pafos on a Friday night far too comercialised for me

Hi Richard,

Perhaps is an age thing, who knows. Paphos suroundings and the old town though is still lovely as ever. By nature am a loner so 15 acres of land in the Paphos countryside would do me fine Wink

Hmm, went there a few months ago and I could've sworn it was snoring...
