You know what visitor69, I just looked in the mirror and couldn't believe how handsome I really am. You know, some people have a little six pack, but they are the paupers. Having a keg is the real deal, amd don't you forget it Rolling Eyes

Now that the sarcasm is finished, let me say something.

I moved from the UK to Cyprus in August 2004. Since I have been here, I have felt something that I have never felt before. Sense of safety and security. I can walk out at 3am anywhere and I won't feel I need to look over my shoulders to see if anyone is lurking about. I can walk the streets, in the fields, on the beach and I know I will be safe. How many other places in the world can you feel like that? not many and thats for certain. Cyprus, like many other countries has a price on goods, but nobody ever said that you can't barter and knock the price down. If you are naive enough to pay over the odds on everything, then I'm sorry to say this, but you are the one and only person who is at fault here.

Now if you don't mind, I'm going back to admire myself in the mirror!

Oh dear, first we had 'Webbie' (who hated Cypriot food), then we had 'Nick the Greek' (who hated everything not Greek Cypriot) and now Visitor69 - a sort of inverted Nick the Greek Smile who hates Cypriots full stop!

Please Visitor69, we cannot take your comments seriously and thus we cannot take you seriously.

I'm just wondering if Nick the Greek and Visitor are the same person...just having nothing better to do than being trolls and causing trouble.... argue which is a shame really, cause I really like this forum.

Visitor69 - your use of the language is rather similar to lots of those lovely little emails I keep getting from ex-government ministers from Nigeria offering me millions in return for my banking details.......I take what you and they say with equal sincerity Wink

Visitor you do realize that you just described 780,000 people using three words: locked minds, desperate, and snob!! How very rational... and you expect to be taken seriously?

Well, that wasn't as bad as it could have been. Russians are often described in two words - alcoholics (men) and prostitutes (women). And there are a bit more than a hundred million of us. Smile

Oh dear, what a shame, how sad, never mind.
It must be wonderfull to feel no shame going through life with a jaundiced view of everyone but oneself.
As a Greek Cypriot might I suggest that it is better to remain silent and be considered a fool than to speak and thereby remove all daubt.
There are good, bad and indiferent individuals in most countries but we really should try not to allow a bad experience to cloud our whole judgement.

Hate to say this, but Visitor made a few points that I must agree with.

Cypriots have changed towards foreigners over the last few years, I don't know why exactly, but they really are not as friendly as they used to be.

Also, for the Cypriots who came on to argue against his points, why did you have to do so in a manner where you were very nasty towards the Brits? Not exactly friendly, as you insist that you are! In fact, you only strengthened Visitor's points about Cypriots being racist and unwelcoming towards people from the UK. If you have this attitude on a forum, think how it is magnified in real life.

As for how people look - not a good idea to get into an arguement about this, all races have their good looking and their not so good looking, but Visitor is correct about the minds of the Cypriots being closed, I don't see how anybody can argue against this. Cyprus has been dragged kicking and screaming into the EU - why join if you dislike it so much? Again, another point made by visitor - Cyprus joined the EU for their own personal gain. It is just that simple, it all comes down to £££.

Tourism here is dropping fast due to the increase in cost on everything and the attitudes of Cypriots! Cyprus is cutting off it's nose to spite it's face, so to speak, which is a shame becasue without tourism, it will be nothing.

I live and work here, but don't feel welcome anymore - no matter how hard I try to fit in, they just won't let me! The UK is looking damn good again!!!

Let's see if the Cypriot forum members can reply while resisting from insulting me and other people from the UK with nasty comments.
