Yeah - I suppose, put simply, some people are more sensitive than others. That much is plain to see from the variety of reactions re the controversial threads, so yes some kind of user-controlled filtering would seem to be in order but it must work both ways - no good asking not to be offended in your viewing but being able to send out offensive posts.
Can I have mine turned completely off though please so that I might be offended to the max ?
( There is a question on the registration for this forum that asks if your're under 13yo - is this a kind of content filter ? ) |

Why not have a Controversial Topics section, like General Chat.
So anything that may offend someone can go in there.
Probably won't work as every thread seems to upset someone, and if it doesn't the Admin deletes it. |
Not a bad idea - but if the topic is made patently obvious (and I don't mean by just calling it a 'controversial thread' as some people may still want to join in the particular discussion) people then have a choice to open that thread or stay clear. (I realise that some people open just about every thread going too!!)
I don't think Admin take decisions to close or delete lightly - so the threads must be overly offensive, abusive or racist etc- in my view anyway! |

You can for me
Age should not be an issue - people cannot stop being who they are or how emotional they get at certain threads, and granted, some may overreact just as some under react - but as the saying goes
'forewarned is forearmed' |
