Heard this afternoon that the Government Has banned the English Cricket team from playing Zimbabwe in a test series Twisted Evil

What the he*l is the government doing poking its nose into sport ..yet again.

Irrespective of your views on the political situation in Zimbabwe what are your thoughts on this action?

To me it seems that they are deliberatlely using sport as a way to get at the Govt of Zimbabwe by stopping the multi racial Zimbabwean Cricket team playing on a world stage

Or maybe they just dont want to see England suffer another embarrassing defeat

RichardB, the British Government is likely to throw up ANYTHING in an effort to discredit Zimbabwe, I think people are beginning to realize just WHO is responsible for all the suffering in that troubled land.

Robert Mugabe is NOT forcing the sanctions on his nation that are resulting in the horrors we are told of, Britain and it's Minions are.

I think you may be right about the result of any matches between the two nations mate, I doubt that THAT is the whole reason though. Wink

Its not sanctions that Zimbabwe needs ....I dont think any Government has been toppled by the use of sanctions. Zimbabwe needs aid, not monetry aid but practical aid to enable the people to help them selves.

But the government poking its nose in sport really gets me riled ... If they are that concerned why didnt they stop the British athletics team competing in Biejing? ... Oh I know it wouldnt be to thier benefit would it Twisted Evil

SA has sanctions against it for many years and were excluded from international sport because of thier political situation. Just because the violence is black on black in Zimbabwe the world does nothing about it. I dont agree with banning sports but its gotta be done
