Lord Phillips says Islamic law could benefit society .
Britain's most senior judge reopened one of the most highly charged debates in Britain last night when he said he was willing to see sharia law operate in the country, so long as it did not conflict with the laws of England and Wales, or lead to the imposition of severe physical punishments.

A slight exageration there. He only implied 'certain aspects' of Sharia Law. They are not intent of chopping thousands of hands off for thieving or stoning adulterers to death for example.
There wouldnt be anybody left to habitat the place. |

There was a discussion about this on the BBC's "Today" radio programme this morning. The view of the commentators was that, given that Lord Phillips stressed that English law takes precedence over any other law in all situations, he was saying in very diplomatic language that Sharia law has no place in the English legal system.
Surely anybody who thinks that Sharia law is wonderful only has to buy a one-way ticket to Saudi Arabia. There are plenty of jobs there. |

Put your hand on your heart and say that you would like to live under Sharia Law. No one would believe you still. Only a fraction would be applicable to todays lifestyles. |

I hope you are not saying that audi Arabia and other countries which are using Sharia are 'Crime Free'. No deterrent whatsoever, I am afraid. |

sheria and any of other laws will never make the world crimefree. remind you i m not religioust person but i done many searches about all religions.
soudi arabia and uae are using the part of the system . in real islamic countries shouldnt be how they are ruling but still its better then capitalizm. i support komunism but again satalin didnt do it in the right way. if you use one of the systems in the right way it will work. whats so scary abou it . death ! idam ! already in USA and many countries using it. cutting hand a bit too much really . making some changing on kominizm is the right system people can use. kominizmin gercek felsefesi cok guzel ama insanlar kendi cikarlari dogrultusuna cekmeye calisiyor. islam da ayni . birinde din yok , digerinde dini yonetim . but i m sure the world need different system |

| My issue as an atheist with Sharia law is simple. It is a capital offence not to be one of the 'people of the book'. In other words you must be a Muslim, Christain or a Jew, or else be executed. I do not accept this. |
