If you hadn't noticed Gav, IAN BEAUMONT is a British name. Brits conned by a Brit, nothing to do with Greek Cypriots.

I believe this is very appropriate regarding this situation.

Maybe I dont get it Gavin

The above is your start to this thread

I understood that the point you were making was that British people were buying in the North and that they would not have to return the properties!!You follow this up with YouTube link which shows how unhappy they are!!
You then post this

Quote:
are you kidding me. thats the reason construction boomed. because if you build a house on it you will pay compensation . if no house on it then you have to give back .

In which you say they will have to pay compensation!!

We then get another YouTube video showing more unhappy buyers (this time in the ROC

Could you please tell me the reason behind this thread

If its just myself who cannot comprehend the point you're trying to make then I apologise to other members for wasting their time reading this post

And is true what the estate agents say? That IF any compensation is to be paid, then the Turkish Government will pay it and not the buyer. If so, then its cart blanche for anyone to buy anywhere here and never have a comeback!!!! Also Gav, a lot of people are heartbroken over lost properties, and I think that this subject is one that shouldn't treated so lightly. The local paper stated today that a Greek Cypriotin the ROC is trying to sell his land in Kyrenia, but a TRNC spokesperson said that no such sale would be legal because it would not be approved by the government (here)!! Its a mess and in all honesty I cannot see an end to it any time soon.

You really believe that? The truth is getting shaken out of your old, and present military leaders, and now your denying progress? Its one thing to hide the truth, but to lie about it as well is nothing but corrupt selfishness. You should be ashamed at yourself for still trying to distort facts.

Hi Tess,

What an illegal "government" says to buyers of stolen GC properties cannot be relied on. How can any damn fool buying stolen property with the help from an illegal "state" can say, "well, as long as the illegal "state" says it is OK, then we don't have anything to worry about".. Talk about the buyers of the stolen GC land getting screwed Royally by the illegal "state" first and then get screwed rightfully by the legal owners later on. These buyers without a conscious of planning their retirement on stolen GC properties, deserve to lose every penny they have spent, as well as face jail time when appropriate time comes along.

Now lets talk about the compensation, that the illegal "state" is proposing to pay on behalf of the buyers. I did not hear that on the video. What I heard was, that if there was a settlement, the buyers will not lose their homes, but might have to pay a
small compensation. This small compensation was of course from the original Annan Plan of 2004, where any compensation paid to the legal GC owner, was only going to be the price of the land back in 1974, plus the difference in inflation. In another words, it was going to be a steal for the buyers, but stolen for the second time for the GC legal owner. Since the AP failed in 2004, the illegal "state" shamelessly are telling the buyers that this is how it is going to be, just to make the sale.

We all know now, that the AP is not being used for the new negotiations, much to the disappointment of the illegal "state", and if any compensation needs to be paid to the legal GC owners, it is going to be based on today's prices, and not the yesteryear's of 1974. Do you really think that the illegal "state" is going to pay hundreds of thousands of Euros on the behalf of the buyers who may have paid a fraction of that on their dream homes. ? I do not think so. I don't even think foreigners will be given a chance to pay and stay on the GC land, and even if they were, good luck to them coming up with hundreds of thousands of Euros just so that they can stay in their dream homes. They will then learn, that they were sold bunch of "damaged goods" and running to the illegal "state" to ask them to keep their promise that they would pay the compensation to the legal GC owners of the land, will just simply fall on deaf ears.

I believe the appropriate song when the reality will set in with the buyers will be,

"Don't cry for me TRNC (Argentina)".!!!

hi tess sorry i have to disagree with you, who can seriously believe that turkey will pay compensation? compensation so that the brits can live in a cheap villa by the sea. i do agree that lots of people have been ripped off but lots left their brains behind in the uk when they came here to buy. some people purchased the so called exchange land and didn't give a s--t.
Z4 remember not all of us brits are stupid! we didn't all buy greek cypriot land!

Your one sided blindness has clouded your judgement once again, the Brits have mainly purchased homes on exchanged land so in many cases if the payment to the GC owner is going to be at todays prices then the land surrendered in the south will also be the same so in some cases the TC who sold his land or the current occupiers will even have money to spare.

Inter-communal struggles? Turkey wasnt and isnt part of the Cypriot community. More Turkish propaganda crap.
