I have just been watching the replay of the Wimbledon Girls Final and I am very happy that the British girl Laura Robson won (last winner was Annabel Croft!)
She is only 14 but showed great nerve and maturity to win 2 sets to 1. In her post match interview she said that she was really nervous having so many people watch her. Bless.
Let's hope there is a great future in tennis for her. |

Ok then ive just watched Hamilton win the British GP in the most appaling conditions and beat the best of the rest!
And it was really nice to see Rubens B come in third and show some of the youngsters how its done - well done Ruby!
(could have done with some of that rain here though)...

You are right, born in Oz, spent her first 6 years in Singapore and now lives 5 minutes away from the Wimbledon courts! Cannot find anything about her parents so still not sure of her heritage! We graciously accept her and she obviously considers herself a Brit now |

Forgive me if I offend a good many sportspeople here but all this talk of winning at tenneese and motor rassing is bxxllxxckxs. I'm sure that the few older members who can remember 1966 and watching the new country win the World Cup on our black and white tvs will know there is one and only one measure of English success at sport and that is to win a second world cup and preferably in what little is left of my life here on earth. PLEASE!

Bill i am one of those older members who watched the world cup on t.v....unfortunately since those halcyon days the sport of football has become bollxxxx. those of 66 were sportsmen and ambassadors of the sport....the so called celebrities we have today are not fit to be compared to the greats. and of course what have they won????

I have only ever seen the replay of 'they think it is all over, it is now' and agreed it was a superb moment in British (English even) history
What about Sir Steve Redgrave and his Olympic achievements though? Surely you class him as a true sporstman? Gosh, even the Australians were not too upset when he won gold there! |
