It's disheartening that we are becoming apologists.
This statue is now part of our heritage, a cultural landmark and as such should stay. It was right for the time and represented the feelings of the people, and for their memories it deserves to stay.
Imagine if someone came along and said the Parthenon is too big and dominates the landscape ... let us move it (... well I guess Lord Elgin did, but that was a crime).
By all means erect another at Kykko, bigger ... overlooking all of Cyprus (bit like the statue of Christ at Rio), but this one should stay. |

Big Mac should stay! But I guess we should be 'happy' that they're replacing him with a smaller one rather than removing him for good. |

If the smaller one has already been commissioned ... I will buy it off them, if they keep the rightful larger one in place.
I have the perfect spot for the smaller statue .... |

| I think they should leave it where it is! Maybe Chrysostomos had some issues with Makarios and that is why he wants it removed. |

It is a bit big! A bit stalinesque. Put it on top of the Troodos, right next to GB's listening/radar station. |
