We have been trading here for 2 years, whilst 50% of our business is cash the rest is cheques!

80% of our customers are Cypriots, most ask for credit - we only allow 28 days.

We have ONLY had 3 cheques bounce!!!

1 was due to a mistake. 1 was cleared the next week. The last one did clear but it took weeks!!! We ONLY deal in cash with him now!!!

We find that the smaller independents are OK to do business with.

The bigger the customer = The bigger the headache to get paid!

Over here it is a criminal offence for a chq to bounce, you have a choice, keep the chq and present it again, or ask the bank to stamp it and report it to the police. The best way to get credit here is to provide a few post dated chqs, they are as Oracle said, as good as cash in that respect.

Thanks Tess, you gave me a good laugh, the whole bloody Pseudostate is a criminal offence, never mind a bounced cheque. The cheek!
