Postby ARMENIAN CYPRIOT » Sat Jul 26, 2008 6:05 am

I just read Okkas has signed with Omonia.Aloneftis was also a huge signing for them. Omonia will be the favorites to win the league this year due to these players.

Do all these Omonia signings have anything to do with the sudden cash flow from AKEL and the water from Greece scandal? They seem to be spending a lot of money! :? :?

Prereqisite for Ocean tankers to receive the tender for the "succesfull" operation to carry water was the sponsorship of Omonia. (around 1million Euros)

I don't know why its so strange, tankers being advertised on shirts of football players. You might be sitting watching a match and remember that you despearatey need to hire a tanker for something!!! Worry no more now you just pick up the phone and call "Ocean Tankers" Your friendly 20,000 Tonne Tankers.

It sound more like sour grapes to me.
Brand Recognition? Does it ring a bell? I am sure that sometime at someplace you had some basic markting lessons!
Ocean Tankers is a newcomer to Cyprus and it surely wants media exposure..and club sponsoring is one of the best ways to do it. Columbia did it with Apollon and as a result there is no single Cypriot that does not recognise the name.
And btw the sponsorsip was around 500,000 euros and not 1 million as quoted above.

My dear Kinezo.

COlumbia has a hotel, a resort and a shopping centre in Cyprus apart from its shipping companies.

Brand recognition for whom? Football shirt sponsorships is 99% retail maketing.

The fact that Ocean Tankers biggest deal in Cyprus came at the same time as the sponsorship of Omonoia and you don't bat an eyelid confirms the theory that Homoniates are a flock of sheep......Arnia if you like.

Yeah, yeah...you are right!

OT came to Cyprus last year and nobody ever heard of it. They got a contract last March and nobody heard of it. They sponsor Omonoia and there is no Cypriot that does not know the company.

Guess what, raising brand awareness is important even for a company that is not, at the moment, in the retail market.

As for the comments about sheep...keep playing the old scratched record...and watch your main competitot taking off...

I think ocean tankers got enough publicity with the water issue. I agree with DT. that there could be somehting fishy in this story.
