The government Press and Information Office have published a free multimedia project which is simply fantastic. It covers
Geography
History'
Cyprus in the World
Political System
Land Use and Planning
Defence-Security
Economy
Transport and Communications
Agriculture - Natural Resources
Society - Social Policy
Services
Civil Registry/Migration Department
Education
Arts and Culture
Mass Media
Political Issues
Useful Information
In each of the above chapters, there are 20 beautiful photographs and an average of about 8 text sections.
In addition there are 4 SWF videos, whose visual quality, unfortunately, is rather mediocre (they have to be highly compressed to fit ~90 minutes of video into an easily handled size).
For those of you who are on broadband, you should be able to download it all from http://www.aspectsofcyprus.com/ - the main file is, I think, about 30 Mb but the four videos total nearly 400 Mb, impossible for those with Dial-up networking or ISDN. However, I ordered the lot on a CD from the PIO (sent to me free-of-charge).
Believe me, this is well worth looking at, but count on at least 4 or 5 hours to discover the totality of this work of art.

| Those of you who have downloaded this or obtained the CD-ROM will know the 4 videos are of atrocious quality because of the compression. I asked the PIO whether they had them in a better format and they sent me the 4 DVDs, excellent quality, free-of-charge. |
