| I have some Cypriot pounds left from previous holidays to Cyprus, now that the Euro is in place are these still used in Cyprus? If not can they be exchanged in Cyprus for Euros? |

| The banks will change them for you at the official rate. In March while in Limassol I was amazed to see "dealers" selling recent Cyprus Pounds on the Sunday market for several times the official rate. Older ones were very expensive , they wanted €20 for a 250 Mil note! |

Up to the end of June you could change your Cyprus pounds at any bank ~ I've been told that you can only change it at a main branch now ~ info received from my local BOC branch
So it's still possible , you just have to find the main branch.

I am fairly certain that it is just the Central Bank of Cyprus Soto
I had a few pounds and coins leftover too. I forgot about the June deadline (even though a forumer had notified me of such on a different thread!) and tried to take them to the bank at the beginning of July! It is not worth my while driving to Nicosia (petrol and carbon footprint) so I am just going to donate them to the 'Red Cross' who have collection points in Carrefour supermarkets. Not sure what the RC will do, but if it helps.................. |
