Just curious to know what music people are listening to right now and there favourite music on the whole.
Right now, although im playing out (DJing) a lot of current RnB and Hip Hop, I find a lot of it today is crap and engineerd to go straight into the charts.
I listen to a lot of modern soul/rnb today in my own time though, artists like Musiq, Teedra Moses, John Legend, Raphael Saadiq, Jill Scott, etc.
My favourite music of all time is Rare Groove, Soul, Jazz, Reggae and classic Hip Hop.
So what are you guys listening to right now? |

| Mostly I like heavy stuff with guitars, bass, drums and lots of noise (Alternative, Hard rock, etc). Sometimes I am in a mood for Blues, Jazz and Rock-n-Roll. Rarely I listen to Classical music. |

Oh yeah...for you soul heads in the UK. Saturday, BBC2, 8.25pm...a series called Soul Deep looking at the history of Soul music. Just saw the first episode and it was good. Focussed on Ray Charles and how he was instrumental in R&B and Soul music.
AND learned it was two Turkish brothers who set up the legendary Atlantic Records lol. |

Hi Main_source,
I'm a lover of RnB and soul and I also love 80's stuff too.
My fav at the moment is Usher, Mario, Ciara and I like some of 50 cents stuff too.
My brother is also a DJ here in Limassol and focus's on that sort of stuff.
Anyway happy listening |

yeah if u listen to Usher'slatest album, it's actually very good...just that his record company decided to release the more pop orientated tracks. Mrio's ok and the Ciara album is not bad too...it not just all dancefloor stuff but a couple of good soul tracks.
Not a big fan of 50 Cent at all. I grew up with hip hop from an early age, as my brother was into it from the breakdance era and he was quite a well known hip hop journalist among those circles in this country back in the early 90's....ANYWAY, so i've listen to hip hop all my life and right now it is most defenetly in it's worst period. The music has gotten stale and way too rigid. All this gangster stuff now is fake and it's just so boring. The only good mainstream rapper I can think of to come out in the last couple years is Kanye West. Even though his skills arent great, he raps about actually life issue's and has brought comedy back to rap music.
Told i'd turn into an anorak. |
