I read this in the Cyprus Mail today:
"A new bus service started recently, connecting the main cities and airports of Cyprus. It’s hoped it will become popular with both visitors and residents.

“We are pleased about the new bus services, which are now operating. This should help numbers of people who are going out and also visiting other towns.

“In addition, we are hoping for a new night bus service in Paphos. This will help in two ways; people living or staying in Peyia, for example, would be able to catch a bus, and visit a restaurant for an evening, without the added expense of a taxi fare."

Does anyone know anything about it? Busses from both airports to Paphos would be great. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I also wonder if you have to travel to and from the airport on this service, or can you use it to travel between intermediate points? For example, can I use the Limassol-Larnaca airport bus to travel from Limassol to Choirokitia?

If you want to go to Choirokitia you can take the Limassol-Nicosia bus.

I know that, and have done so (you can also use the Limassol - Larnaca bus for that). I am just curious about whether you can use these new airport buses in the same way.

I'm pretty sure thes new "airport busses" are meant to be used for transporting people to the AIRPORTS!! I can see people using them as normal busses to get them from one city to the next and then there being no room for the people who actually want to use them for their original purpose.. for getting to the airport!!

The newspaper mentions both "a new bus service" and "new bus services"
Does anyone know if there's one service or several, for example from both airports?
And which major towns are they talking about? I'm particularly interested in Larnaca airport to/from Paphos, or Paphos Airport to/from Paphos town.
And another point would be the schedules. Planes go practically all night to/from the airports. I would guess that buses won't do that, but how late will they go?
And who's running them? Where does one get information?

A small remark in the paper and look at all the questions it generates.

Good question, quite honestly.

I travel by bus in Cyprus from time to time, and I am having difficulty finding out about these new airport services. The one between Larnaca Airport and Nicosia is said to be operating about every 20-30 minutes, and runs until the last flights of the day are scheduled to arrive. A service is now supposed to be running between Limassol and Larnaca airport, also fairly frequently. However, I live in Limassol, and I can't find out where these buses leave from, nor do I see any extra buses on the road that appear to be running to the airport. It is all shrouded in mystery to me.

I recommend that you e-mail the Cyprus Tourist Organisation (Google it!) with a query. They are quite good at coming back with a reply. If they don't know, then nobody does.

I think the idea is eventually to have buses serving Paphos airport as well, but these haven't started yet. As far as I know. As I said I am in the dark - in fact, if you find anything out I would appreciate it if you could post it here!

Also, is the Green Bus Company still running its four buses per day between Limassol and Larnaca town/Larnaca airport, or has the new airport bus superseded this?

Good idea, Tim. checked CTO and what did i find?

http://www.visitcyprus.com/wps/wcm/connect/e24dd7804ab4bd9cbe97be1cba251ab4/SHUTTLE+BUSES+TO+LARNAKA+AIRPORT.pdf?MOD=AJPERES&CACHEID=e24dd7804ab4bd9cbe97be1cba251ab4&CACHEID=e24dd7804ab4bd9cbe97be1cba251ab4

This is really great. Larnaca airport to Paphos 14 euros and 12 times a day. A taxi costs 10 times that! Very Happy

Now all we need is shuttle buses from Paphos airport.
And a proper bus service from Peyia village to Paphos wouldn't hurt. At present it's a couple of times a day if the driver feels like turning up...still, I suppose that's par for the course for all Cyprus outside of the towns.

I was in town today and did a bit of research of my own. I asked at the tourist information office and the offices of the Limassol Urban Bus Company, which is running the Limassol-Larnaca Airport shuttle. It seems that these buses depart from Agios Georgios church near the Polemidia roundabout, and run directly to the airport without stopping anywhere else. What an odd place to put the Limassol terminus! You couldn't find a location further from anywhere that tourists would actually be heading for. I suppose this was part of the deal brokered with taxi drivers so that they would consent to these shuttle buses.
