Mosquitos

Postby Hazza » Tue May 10, 2005 9:23 pm

This has to be asked as I'm getting sick of them biting me on the arms, neck and face. Especially the face

What is the best repellent to use which you can put on your face as well?
What is the best spray to use in the house to kill them, or make them bugger off??

Any other tips and tricks anyone has which they'd like to share?

Leave Cyprus LoL.

the 2nd best thing to do is get an A/C. That way you wont need to keep windows/doors open keeping the mosquitoes out.

Maybe there is a problem with the area that you live. Where I live we didn't have such problems for ages.

If the problem is so bad then the municipality should take some action. Maybe you should give them a call.

Sounds quite hazardous to me sk... I stick to Raid myself... although when in Cyprus I go with MT's advice and keep the windows closed and the a/c on at night. I've never been bitten there and mozzies usually look upon me as eating at the Savoy

Hi I think you are talking Baygon.

http://www.baygon.com/nqcontent.cfm?a_id=213

This can only be used in rooms, not on people...

To protect yourself I recommend Autan which I usually use. I think it should be available in Cyprus as well.

Good luck!

Are you sure they're mozzies? Where we are we get very few mozzies but are plagued by noseeums (you won't find the term in an entomological text book, but it is very descriptive) from May to October. These are tiny little gnats with rounded wings and a flesh-coloured body. A bite is itchy as soon as they leave, not before, and, if you resist scratching, lasts ~15 minutes. If you scratch, the itch gets worse and lasts longer.

We use the occasional Aroxol when they get too voracious. Aircon doesn't really stop the buggers.

The strange thing is they attack mostly the limbs, where the skin is thin, never the head.

definitely great big dirty mosquitos. Nothing worse than splattering them ony to see your blood against the wall!

As for the A/C, it gets a little expensive to keep running that so I only use it if its absolutely necessary.

We have open fields opposite the house and quite a few trees/plants in the garden, so I'm pretty certain thats why there are so many around here.
