Cyprus Vs Italy Start of the World Cup Qualification

6th Sep in Larnaca.

If keep going with the momentum we've gathered recently then don't be surprised if the italians get a beating over here.

DT I would love to see our lads beat Italy, but odds are we are going to take a L. Would be nice if we can beat the Irish in Dublin this year and not give up a goal in the 94th minute like we did last year!!!!!!!!

Cannot wait. Would love Cyprus to do well and to be honest with some good results home and away I could see them snatching 3rd or even 2nd with some luck of course.

Just out of curiosity, why is the game being held in Larnaca? Thought the GSP in Nicosia was the only ground to hold a UEFA license on the island therefore the only one to be used for offical qualifiers.

No reason why 2nd place should be put of the question. Ireland Georgia and Bulgaria are all teams that can be beaten at home and a few draws maybe snatched away.

The Antonis Papadopoulos stadium is Larnaca has been chosen to house the games for these qualifiers due to the better atmosphere (only 12,000 capacity so a sold out in each game) Quality Group who are the sponsors of that stadium and anorthosis have offered an attractive package to the national squad....and for some reasons foreign teams playing in that stadium feel very threatened probably due to the proximit of the fans. We call it the chicken pen.

It holds a UEFA license but anorthosis chose the GSP for the Champions League for financial reasons (23,000 people better than 12,000)

Tickets are available from the CFA in Nicosia (makedonitissa)

in all seriousness, why do you wanna pay more? Just go the CFA and pick them up. You can get a season ticket for 100 Euros (covers all home games of Cyprus)
