we are interested in work (any kind) in the famagusta area, in particular Paralimni, kapparis. Round the Kennedy Avenue area would be good but we would consider larnaca as well. Definitley not Nicosia or Pahos. Any information on pay rates and availability would be great. We will consider bar tending, waitressing, any hotel work or labouring jobs. One of us is a trained brick layer and another is an experienced care worker for the elderly. The third member of our team has experience in security, but is very willing to tackle any form of employment.

Hi there magicthrill.

A lot of people get confused on this issue. Famagusta is not a town, its a district, or, if you like, a county. For the most part, this district is predominantly greek cypriot occupied. However, it does contain the ghost town of Verosha. This town stands out alone and apart from the rest of the district, and because of the turkish invasion has become a no mans land. So when you refer to the ghost town of famagusta, what is really meant is verosha town. It is not actually occupied contrary to popular belief.

Famagusta is a beautiful, peaceful and laid back area.

Just a correction, the majority of Famagusta district is not under GC control. Approximately 75% of the district is within the TRNC area of control, with the RoC authorities controlling only the extreme southern area (which is also taken up by the Dhekelia SBA).
