Where can I find flea markets in Cyprus ??!

Postby Ariane » Sat Oct 11, 2008 8:24 pm

I ll fly to Cyprus soon and it will be my first time!!

Since I'm a huge fan of flea markets I have asked myself:
are there any in Cyprus? and when&where?

I already tried to find out more about it through google but I did not succeed :-(
Some sites showed pictures of "flea markets" in Cyprus but to me they were just normal markets.
So where is the place where I can find people selling old, strange, funny, adorable stuff??

Ariane :-)

If you are going to Limassol, you may be interested in the Fassouri flea market near the village of Asomatos, about 7 miles from the centre of town. It is held every Saturday and Sunday.

You may be interested to know that the Limassol Urban Bus Company operates a service to this market picking up from all the stops along the sea front. These buses depart from the Four Seasons Hotel at 09.30, 11.15, 13.30 and 17.00. Return journeys from the Flea Market are at 12.30, 14.00, 15.00 and 18.00.

You must be one of the dumbest tourists we’ve ever had… :?

THIS IS CYPRUS!

…with a 10,000 year history of ancient ruins where you’ll find the world renown Khirokitia settlement, Salamis, temple of Apollon, the Kourion theatre, and much, much more and you’re looking for flea markets?

Quite often when I am shopping at the Municipal Market (Pandopolio) in Limassol, I see groups of tourists being ushered through by a guide. The tourists strain to catch the pearls of wisdom emanating from the guide's mouth, all the time staring in awe at the piles of onions and apples around them. Amazing.
