Doomed to failure.
It was a Turkish song (on a Greek music thread)
Words by Asik Veysel.
Sung by Baris Manco and Cem Karaca.
I was in a pensive mood, and was overcome by vibrant tones of the 'Yayli Tambur'. That is the very long armed 'Banjo-like' instrument.
Two more attempts failed. sorry.
A friend of mine plays the Yayli Tambur here in the Netherlands.....amazing sound I will film him ones and upload it to youtube. Thanks for the names.....I will look it up. Cheers mate
You are welcome. The Cello would have a similar effect on me too.
Nana Mouskouri has matured a lot since I heard her. She was a favourite of mine many years ago.
Now she is singing an Italian 'Lachryma' about the BeylerBeyi Palace in Istanbul. Not exactly 'pop' music, but the 'melancholy' suits the mood I am in at present. I hope you are able to watch and listen. I hope the link works.
