Why don't Cypriots behave more like Greeks anymore?

Postby Oracle » Sat Nov 01, 2008 9:57 pm

Why are Cypriots becoming so politically correct? :?

Having recently returned from Greece, it has struck me how sensitive Cypriots seem to have become. Whereas, Greeks still tell it as it is, and damn the consequences!

Cypriots seem to be bending over backwards to make everyone feel welcome, whereas the Greeks don't give a monkey's. Like it or lump it ... or better still, bugger off as far as they are concerned!

As Churchill said: "Today we say that Greeks fight like heroes, from now on we will say that heroes fight like Greeks."

What about the Cypriots?

e.g. Why are we so PC about TCs :?

Because the GC's are the nice guys and probably believe that one good deed deserves another.
Maybe the "f*ck you" brigade are a dying breed ?

As Churchill said: "Today we say that Greeks fight like heroes, from now on we will say that heroes fight like Greeks."

Was this the same Churchill who actively encouraged Greeks to butcher each other in the most vicious and sustained internecine conflict following the second world war until the break up of Yugoslavia ?

I never said anything about re-paying hospitality. :? The Greeks are just as hospitable to strangers (maybe even more so), as the Cypriots. The Cypriots seem to be tempering their habits so as not to embarrass anyone by being overly generous, perhaps.

But maybe you are reinforcing the myth that to bend-over backwards to please others, is being a "nice guy", whereas the Greeks would choose truth and honesty!

However, the evidence you chose to present, is that of a very British "Gentleman" exemplifying the very Human quality of duplicity ... (for all it is worth!).
