BRITAIN LOVES IT'S HEROES.

Lance Corporal Mark Aspinall, having returned from military duty in both Iraq and Afghanistan unscathed (thank God), found himself at the mercy of 3 local policemen in his home town of Wigan.

Apparently he was something of a victim of mistaken identity (or so I'm told) and after delivering a robust verbal defence of his position, was forced to the ground by 3 officers, one of whom delivered at least 8 violent punches to his head (ALL ON CAMERA) and intermittently banged his head on the road surface inflicting at least 14 wounds to head and face.

Of course the unfortunate victim was duly charged AND convicted of assault on the police officers, unfortunately for them, the TRUTH was discovered when the film from a surveillance camera (which covered the area) was examined.

Just a small snippet of information which may serve to illustrate just how TRULY the young men and women of the British Forces are respected by those they serve.

It was necessary to take the case to the court of appeal in order to rectify the injustice done to L/Cpl Aspinall, one wonders if such treatment by his supposed 'peers' (in that they are upholders of law and order) will in any way affect his own judgement when possibly he returns to duty overseas.

Incidentally, THIS incident is but one of very many similar events.

Quite amusing to find this topic in the 'Sports' section, I suppose the action of the police in such instances as this COULD be seen as 'Sport' since they do seem to play the game of bullying the innocent quite frequently.

By all accounts.

Oracle, there is no question as to my gender, I am MALE and did not respond to the suggestion otherwise (by DT) since I am sure it's purpose was meant to either antagonize or insult me.

If such was the intention, it failed miserably, if it was genuine error, it is pardonable and has done no damage.
