Al Qaeda is the brainchild of the CIA to terrorize the world so that they may then strike at will at any competition and appear as the saviors, so I can’t see the US’s favorite invention for controlling the world ever disappearing.

What Australia does not do is ban any site which is derogatory to the country or any of it's leaders. Australia is renowned for taking the piss, and is probably one of the most free and liberal nations in the whole world. Democracy is very much intact in Australia and this is not at risk. You should concentrate on Democracy in Cyprus, because you are at risk of losing yours when you are somehow "forced" to buckle and accept an "Annan Type" solution which will see you deviate from the type of democracy I have in my country.

I hate to break the news to you but the average Cypriot citizen has far more freedom than the average Australian.

By bringing up child pornography which is guaranteed to side the public with the government, they are effectively manufacturing consent for the takeover of the Australian Internet.

Unkie GR warns... lookout!

Some control is better than a free for all GR, lets take drugs for example, they are illegal but the streets will never be free of them, does this mean the governments should say fuck it, lets just make all drugs legal???
Just because people are sitting infront of their pc's in the comfort of their own home doesnt mean they have no social responsibility.

Sorry, I can't compare the Internet with drugs. They’re two totally irrelevant things. I'll wager that if this filtering/banning goes ahead you'll end up with 2-3 things being banned that everyone agrees with and hundreds of others that everyone does not.

PS: Nice avatar of the Hasan Bulli gang… another fine example of a typical Paphian! (From Panayia, Makarios' village I think)

Thanks GR, there are a few descendants of the Hasan Bulli's here in australia, from my mother side.

I've got the Cypriot movie of their story titled after their name, made sometime in the 70s with plenty of x-rated scenes too! Amazing for its days...

Any link to support your statement would be greatly appreciated.

Australia is very much a terrorist target, so for us the threat is very real. We had victims in Mumbai and in Bali. So Australia will excercise her rights to protect me and all other citizens.

Bottom line is this. Australians feel very comfortable with their democracy and feel confident in our Government's abilities. Our country is not occupied either, whereas Cyprus is. Therefore Cypriots can not even reside in the occupied areas of the island. You also have 40,000 enemy troops on your island. So how are Cypriots more free than Australians then?

I’m pretty sure the Al Qaeda issue is way beyond you as I doubt you have the tons of background info needed to discuss it so forget it.

Foolish lad... it didn’t take long for your “Cypriotness” to take second stage did it?

Bye-bye…

I agree that we should leave Al Qaida, for I do not have tolerance in discussing any issues where my opponent lacks objectivity. You stick with demonising America, Greece, Australia, Israel and UK. I am more than willing to offer any critique against any nation, including Australia, but when objectivity is not existent it becomes very non intellectual and too passionate and biased.

Too many people have told me that I am not Cypriot, so I think I will stick with what I have grown up with.

You are all a bunch of lost causes anyway.

Have a nice day, Cypriot patriot.

Australia is not a target, australians in foreign countries are a target. The only reason australians are targets is that we decided to blindly follow the US and Britain to fight wars in deserts on the other side of the world, when it didnt have anything to do with us. It seems that we havent learnt from history
