Good Afternoon

We have never been to Cyprus but have heard that it is a lovely place to visit. We're just a little bit stuck on where we should go! There will be 3 of us taking a holiday in September. Our criteria is lovely beaches in a resort with a few bars (not too lively but not too quiet!). Can anyone please recommend where we should stay? Is it better to rent an apartment and a car or stay on a resort?

Any help would be appreciated,

Sarah J

I highly recommend Paphos for a place with great beaches, and reasonable bars and restaurants without being over-loud and busy Very Happy In Paphos, it's probably better to stay in a resort than to rent a villa, since most of the cheaper villas are a few km out of town at Coral Bay and further - in my experience

Hi sarahjessie.

Larnaca is nice and pretty central to everything. If you only want a few bars that aren't overcrowded, then I suggest staying somewhere on Dhekelia Rd in Larnaca.

Protaras probably has THE most beautiful beaches but its pretty crowded there. Same with Ayia Napa.

I can also recommend The Princess Hotel. I used to go there every year for my hols and loved it every time. I still go there from time to time for a drink with the staff. Go fully inclusive and you have your meals free, snacks free, drinks free.....and as many as you want.

Hmmm in light of the criteria you've mentioned, I'd go for Pafos..... more crowded than Larnaca I'd figure, but more to see and do and the beaches are nicer

It depends how much you wish to move around, i.e. go and visit places like historical sights or whatsoever. If you are not into culture but only want leisure and relax you will be fine in a resort. In case you have more plans and wish to see a bit more of the island I'd suggest apartment or small hotel plus car.

I HATE all inclusive holidays - nothing but gluttons who are afraid to leave their hotel for fear of actually having to pay for something!

Last year was funny......we were at a hotel, self catering, so we were out and about all day everyday. Somebody shit in the hotel pool - so they closed it for 2 days. The all inclusive guests were stuck for something to do, and were raging at me for laughing when I read that somebody had crapped in their beloved pool.

Wish I'd found out who dropped that turd, I'd have patted them on the back for giving me such a laugh Very Happy

Very Happy

Guilty as charged

Very Happy

Actually something I NEVER go into is a swimming pool - I know that I pee when required, so hate the thought of everybody else doing the same thing! Minging! Double standards, I know, but such is life.
