Hi Playmates
This is an ols topic but one that amy have changed.
I was in a bar the other day earwigging a conversation and one of the participants was talking about importing a stretch limosine into Cyprus.
After alll the usual chat about huge amounts of import duty, he said that he'd heard that the laws on importing vehicles had changed recently due to EU membership and that age of vehicle no longer applies also rates of duty had dropped.
Has anyone heard anything
All the best |

You need to find a better bar!
If I was in a bar and boring conversations like that were taking place, I'd blow the gaff pronto!
Seriously though, I can't help you......sorry. |

If a vehicle is the personal property of the importer (who must be an EU National) and they have owned it for at least 6 months and Duty has been paid in an EU country, it can be imported without additional Duty.
However, it will be liable to Duty when they come to sell it.
Registration on, for example, a 6litre car would be £3,600, road tax £690 pa.
If they did have to pay Import Duty on it it would be £48,000 + VAT LOLOL!

Believe me, it's easier to import an ex-soviet intercontinental nuclear missle with an armed escort conducted by Osma Bin Laden and his merry men than it is a mere car!
It does also help if you take a wad of cash to Limassol to bribe the Customs Men with just to get your car released otherwise you could find yourself doing the rounds between Nicosia and Limassol for a week or so. |

Hi Canned Moose
As the question was raised about a stretch limo, I assume it would have 'a good ole V8!'
Lana
PS this thread explains why my supply of SAMs is still stuck in limassol docks |
