I think it is time for smoking to be regulated and become Illegal. How does smoking benefit the individual who smokes or the general public ? Other than causing serious health problems. While so many things are illegal I cant see any reason why cigaretes should not be!

Making smoking illegal will result in very very ugly legal battles between the manufacturers of cigarettes and goverments around the world. The cigarette business is worth billions of dollars around the world through tax benefits.

Joe public will say "hang on a minute, I have been smoking for 45 years and I'm fit as a fiddle. The goverment can't take this away from me. Let me look at human rights issues and consult my high profile lawyers"

I honestly can't see smoking becoming illegal.

I know it is a difficult task but for me I cant understand the difference between selling a cigarete or other drug substances.

I dont smoke but my father does and I can see how hard is for him to give up smoking! Lets be fair There is a big hypocricy on this issue worldwide! Why should money come always on TOP of everything.

At the recent war in Iraq thousands of innocent Iraqis and Amercicans have died to getr rid off the dengerous SHussein on the grounds that he possed weapons of Muss destruction. I mean this is very Ironic! These weapons have not been found yet but thousands Iraqis and Americans have died as a result and the adverse consequences are yet to come!
Could nt GWBush do somthing to protect the public health against smoking?

I don't see why smoking should be banned altogether. I can see the arguments in favour of banning smoking in the presence of others, but not for disallowing one to smoke if he or she so chooses.

I cant see any reason for drugs to be banned either! The law on smoking is very weak to protect those who do not smoke.

I can understand your right to smoke , but I also understand the right of all those who want to take other drug substances and they are illegal! Is there a discrimination?

Well, there are many other substances than that should be made illegal. Popcorn comes to mind, for example. What good is it for the people to eat popcorn? :)

I think that smoking shouldn't be illegal. The same way as I think some other drugs shouldn't be illegal. I am not so much against smoking. If people want to kill themselves - let them do so. It's just that:

1. They should know that they are killing themselves.
2. They should do so in designated areas, where they can't kill anyone who wants to live.

That's about it. :)
