any advice help appreciated.

hi, just wondering if anyone can give me some advice.
Ive been thinking seriously for a few years now of moving to Cyprus, I lived there as a child as my father was in the Forces and my Grandmother has retired there, Im a british citizen and would be grateful if someone could give me some pointers on where to start.
Initially i would want to rent, and as i am 32 i would still need to work, Now that Cyprus is part of the EU do i need a visa to live and work out there, and if so does anyone have any ideas on how hard they are to get?, and is there much red tape.
I also have a daughter of 11 who would obviously still require schooling, When i lived there i went to the forces school St Johns in Episkopi but do Greek schools take English children.
Does anyone have any good websites on Jobs available in Cyprus, Im customer service trained, A telephonist etc, My partner is a computer repairs engineer so i was wondering what the job market is like in Cyprus, as we dont have a trade as such.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would suggest you come out to see what the job market is like. Wages are much lower and the cost of living is still lower than UK but rising since joining the EU. As an EU member you don't need an actual visa to work or live here, but you must register with Immigration and get an aliens book and a yellow slip with is usually for 5 years. I am told you still need to get a work permit but believe that this is just a procedure now for them to keep records of everyone (big brother is watching!)

The only places I have seen jobs advertised is in English papers like Cyprus Weekly and Cyprus Mail. I guess there are other ways but I have not seen them.

I personally would not want to live in Nicosia in town but then I am a country loving person and don't mind to drive to get to where I'm going.

As far as an 11 yr old child goes... Unless he/she can speak greek and greek school is probably not suitable. There are many English schools here but I believe they are expensive, but good.

Hope this helps.
Regards.
